I would check out whatever new league they would go in. I would go to the home opener and take it from there. I personally don't care what league they are in as long as total shenanigans aren't going on.

Great! Now I'm getting emails thinking Scott and me are buying the team. lol I wish that I had the money. It would be the best fan run team in the league. ........The Freeze, as I was told, were always for sale. If the price was right. If I was a betting man, I'd say we have an 80-20 chance that we will not be playing next year. But, miracles do happen.......................we'll have to wait and see. So without starting yet another war of leagues thread I was just curious if the Erie faithful on here would still support the team if they did not play in the AIFA and moved to the CIFL. (I only say them becasue no other real options are close by) Joe, I know you said today that the CIFL was a joke as is 7-7 football on J.t.'s show. Just curious how you all felt if that ever happened. I know you stated that you are not trying to start a war of leagues. I am curious about the whole mentality of arguing over leagues. I do not get it, personally. If you are not a fan of a certain league and have no teams in the said league, why do people care so much. Every league has problems. EVERY LEAGUE. Even the NFL has internal issues. Part of the problem I believe is the availability of information. When team owners start airing dirty laundry on message boards, that sets a terrible precedent. I know this is considered the minor leagues, but some of the mud slinging I have seen from team owners from across every league leaves me scratching my head. Whatever happened to taking the high road? This mud-slinging across leagues, teams, owners is getting worse then political debates. When was the last time you were on an NFL team website and saw players, owners, general managers, et al taking pot-shots at other teams and leagues? Do NFL managers go onto CFL team sites and talk trash and point fingers and call names? No. Why does it happen at this level? Really... I need to understand this. Why would any league care about another leagues operational habits and trends? Does no one else find this to be immature and truthfully, stupid? Until this stops, the product of indoor football will always have a stigma to it. Worry about what happens in your own league. Keep the drama behind locked doors. We as fans are losing sight of what makes this product, in whatever capacity, so great. The look on our kids faces and us adults too, when they get to see professional football. When they get to keep a ball. When they get to meet their favorite players and get their autographs. All of this magic without draining your wallet. It is about the value. It is affordable fun and excitement for the whole family. Lets try to remember why these leagues were started to begin with. Root for your team in their respective league. Stop slamming other leagues over politics. Simply enjoy the product at face value. Great football at a great price. When teams move on, as they will, accept that it just happens. Accept that sometimes, as in all business, things just do not work out. Have a great upcoming season, no matter who you cheer for and no matter what league they are in. Lets get ready for some indoor football!

Funny story. I contacted a Freeze player through Myspace to see if he had any information about the Freeze coming back or not. He said he wasn't really sure what was going on and the best person to contact was Joe! I guess Joe does know it all. I did notice today that the Freeze website was updated to include the TV deal and payment picture.

At the end of the 2006 season, we got invited by Tatonka to follow him up to Rochester,NY to check out a GLIFL game between the Raiders and the Marion Mayhem. We accepted and were joined there by D. Hodas and Christina. In my opinion, we witnessed a well played game by both teams. As well as a tremendous show of support from a rabid and very dedicated group of Raider fans. There was a nice contingent of Marion fans there also. We got the opportunity to meet the Raiders owner, A very nice and positive man I might add. We met Marions' owner. He was a very nice gentleman, too. We also met the leagues' owners and they are a good group of men. I like a lot about the GLIFL/CIFL.
Now remember at the time, we were going through the end of year 2 of AHs' reign. There were a LOT of bad things going on in the AIFL. We had just gone through the Richmond banning and the shutting down of the AIFL message board during the first week of the playoffs. There were also teams leaving the league or folding. Richmond, Raliegh, Ghostriders/GhostChasers, Chatt. Valley, Augusta, Daytona Beach, Miami Valley, Steubenville, Rome. We lost Syracuse midseason. It was a BAD time and the news wasn't looking good for the future of the league. At the time, I believed that the GLIFL was a good fit for Erie. The proximity to the other members of the league was similar. They're were also rumors of Canton also possibly moving to the GLIFL. So, if they were going to go, I certainly wanted to see Erie go with them.
I enjoyed and still enjoy the brand of football, I listened to a number of games during the 2007 season. Even more once the AIFA season ended. I followed the Raiders Playoff run on the webcasts. All the way to the Championship. I liked the 7 on 7. I liked the fact the the running game is more involved. I liked the increased mobility of the LBs. There was a good amount of offense/scoring. And strong defensive play. It's a good product and I would support if it was the option presented to me.
But I wouldn't be involved like I am with the Freeze. I would go to the games to get my football fix, that's all. I have already decided (and verbally committed) to assist a neighboring franchise with their team and Fan Club. IF and ONLY IF the Freeze DO NOT play in the AIFA in 2008.
I strongly believe in the AIFA and the things that Mr. Morris and Mr. Mink are doing. They have done a tremendous job since taking over. The future of this league is so bright, and I SO WANT Erie to be a part of it. The new TV deal and the revenue sharing that the teams will benefit from is the first step in securing the long term future of the AIFA. And the future holds so many bigger and better things.
Have I agreed with everything the AIFA has done? No, I haven't. But if you agreed with everything, then you would have to assume that it is perfect ? And I have yet to find, or do I ever believe that I will ever find anything that I could say is absolutely perfect. If it was, then you wouldn't need a Fan Advisory Board. You wouldn't need this message board. You wouldn't need anything because everything would be perfect. Your team would win every game, you would never get scored on, a player would never get hurt, you would never see another fumble or interception. Because it would be perfect.
And I don't want it to ever be perfect. Because then, it wouldn't even be worth caring about.
I hope that this answers your question MDINDOORFAN.
And sorry if I went on to long, I tend to do that sometimes.

It was the main site that was updated with that picture. I wasn't trying to make it sound like the Freeze are "doing things" because they "updated" their web site and myspace. I think it's funny that someone takes the time to do those things but won't do anything important like the things you mention.

Just wondering, was the team up for sale when Davey promised free tickets if Freeze lost to Legends???

From what I was told. It was always for sale. With the right offer. I'd bet any team would be for sale with that stipulation. If someone offers you double the worth of the team. How could you pass it up? The only way that I don't forsee a team being for sale. Is having someone so passionate for the team, city, community, and fans, that they wouldn't give it up for any price. That would be a fan owned team though.

You have to be passionate to own a team in a small league, anyone who thinks they are going to be rich is dreaming. And if Davey thinks someone is going to offer him more then what the team is worth, he might has well fold the team cause I don't see that happening (same for any other team).

There are a few more teams in danger of not playing in 2008 and, in my opinion, if you go dark one year you might as well fold up the shop.
Needless to say, there may be some shocking revelations in the next two to three weeks.

I totally agree. It would be very bad if Erie went dark for one year. We just got the fan base back from the Erie Invader one year and done fiasco. The fans would be tougher to bring back if this happened to them twice.

There are a few more teams in danger of not playing in 2008 and, in my opinion, if you go dark one year you might as well fold up the shop. Needless to say, there may be some shocking revelations in the next two to three weeks. Not that shocking to some of us... The business plan is all wrong and there's no training available to new or prospective ownership groups to help them get started on the right foot. Andrew would sell to anyone with a little cash in their pocket (witness the Boyd/Ghostriders fiasco) and M&M are still dealing with some of those holdovers... not to mention not making the best decisions in their first go-round either. If there isn't a qualified owner in place, the team shouldn't play: ie., league-owned teams like Montgomery, Carolina, etc. Ron and Joe are right about the "going dark" for a year plans some teams cook up... they have never worked. History is littered with indoor football (and other sports as well) franchises who made this decision never to return. They think they can get marketing/sponsorship dollars after taking a year off? What business, in their right mind, can trust you with their advertising dollars after you pull a stunt like that? An announcement like that is made only to pacify the fans, who instead of railing against the team, choose to see the glass-half-full angle and hope/pray their team returns after the hiatus. Then when it doesn't, they're too jaded to give a sh!t anymore and never put up a fuss. Someone PLEASE step up and fix this sport... regionalize it to the extent where fans can make road trips more easily and there are not one, but many geographic rivalries that will not only help at the gate, but on the travel expenses as well. Make the players a higher priority: these guys give so much for the fans' entertainment, and they are the ones who get sh!t on the most. And finally, to any owners out there who might get this message... take it upon yourselves to control the league your team plays in. Like in the NFL, it's the teams that make these leagues work. Stop letting one or two people control your team's future and begin to cooperate with each other in order to compete with one another ON the field, instead of competing with each other OFF of it.
