Well, the league almost made it through the season without a major incident.
But thanks to the Flint Phantoms, two teams are officially out of the CIFL (although technically on the last day of the regular season, you might say this is a post season departure).
Flint is out for failing to show in Rochester. And Rochester's owners (who have already announced they'd start an AF2 team in Buffalo next season) finally have their excuse to leave the CIFL as they've announced they're resigning from the league and not playing in the playoffs.
All the news on OSC and the CIFL message boards.

My sources (same ones that nailed the Bob & Dave mess earlier in the year) have informed me that the AIFA has contacted the Raiders about finishing out 2008 with them.

ummmm how could they finish with us? It's so late in the season! I'll welcome this team with open arms, because I've always wanted Roc in the AIFA, but they better not get in to the AIFA playoffs.

They're a 12-0 team - I'm sure M&M would have them in the AIFA playoffs, too.

Rochester's roster is a pretty good fit for the AIFA - they like to chuck things pretty good...the three regular season games will be good for them to get into the swing of things with the rather dissimilar rule set.

Complete crap! Their style of game is totally different. If this was the off season I could live with that. Start next year, not at the end of our season. But to automatically give them a title shot is bullsh!t. Rinky-dink if you ask me.

I agree they should not be given the chance to play in the Play-offs!
......If anything let 'em join and if 1 or 2 teams want to play an extra game cos of the end of the season or a bye week before a play-off(which some teams have) then Fine but they haven't existed in this league all year and shouldn't be given the chance at a title this year

If they automatically get into the playoffs over a team that had to fight through the entire season to earn it. That's the kind of thing that is gonna completely destroy the credibility of this league.
Like someone else said...who is getting knocked out of the playoffs because of this?

Rochester will play the AIFA Champion - the AIFA playoffs will go on as previously scheduled - the winner of that tourney will play the next week at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.

And if Rochester wins that game and sticks around the AIFA next year....are they gonna be touted as the champs?
