Here are the numbers from last year according to goerie.com articles. 6/9 Johnstown - 2,700 5/27 Miami Valley - 2,100 5/12 Reading - 2,800 4/7 Huntington - 3,200 3/31 Steubenville - 3,600 3/17 Syracuse - 2,000 3/3 Canton - 3,500 Can they do better this year? It's not a question of Can they do it, more on the lines of Will they do it. I think we WILL get 4000 for tomorrow's game. I think we CAN get 6000, that's pushing it though. i wish we had the real attendances, because there's no way in hell that each game came out even. These have to be estimates. Estimates? We scan our tickets at the door that goes into a d**n computer and we can't get a EXACT attendance number? As Myth would say, Bull Excrement!

The lone fact of more home games being on Saturday this year should help attendance. Only one of the games last year (5/27) was on a Saturday. The rest were on Friday. Friday's are a lot harder because most folks have to run home, get the kids, get some food, then head back to the city for the game. I'm sure Friday's sound like a great idea for football because people are used to going to high school games on that night, but schools are usually a lot closer to people's homes than the centrally located civic center.
The Syracuse Soldiers game was on St. Patty's day which looks like it obviously affected the attendance that night. Most people are out drinking that night.
Only one Friday home game this season is a good thing, and should help bring those numbers up. On top of that it looks like the Freeze are breaking through on the radio and getting some better exposure there. Now if they could only get some love from the news...
Saturday and Sunday games save me from killing myself getting up to the Great White North after work on Friday's too!

When I picked up my tics. tuesday, she did mention any sections that have sold out yet. Hopefully we can get a crowd.

I wondered why that Syracuse number looked so "off", but that makes sense.

Yeah, as a road fan, making time to go up on Friday was tough. As for the estimates, I'm sure the team reported 'tickets out' and probably rounded it to a nice even number for the paper. Although I didn't think, personally, that there were that many fans for the Stampede game there. A decent crowd (2,500~), but I didn't think it was over half filled. Sykotyk

i know a lot of people that know about the team now that didn't, the fact that they have 2 years under there belt also will help attendance.

The longer they're there, the bigger the 'awareness base' of the team will be, and maybe some who think indoor football as a fad or a 'one year experiment' will look into tickets the longer they're there as they become a 'legitimate team' for the city.
Time will tell, but Erie has done many things right since the first year on.

Cool. I was told, though, a fair number of tics are given away(I doubt more then 100, anyone have offical number?) so those are still very good numbers. Hopefully they stay up there.

It's good to get the high attendances now, because when the temperature starts going up, the attendance starts going down.

I would imagine it HAS to be more than 100. How many guys are on the team? Each one of them probably gets at least 2 tickets, maybe more. Joe, do you know? Do the away teams get tickets? Do the Chillers get free tickets for family and friends? Plus what about sponsors? I even heard the guys holding the down markers saying that they get free tickets to each game.

The home players and coaches get comps for friends and family. The same as the road team. Usually about 2 to 4 tickets each. I'm sure the owner probably takes people to games with him for free. As for comps, I'm sure sponsors, as part of their buying sponsorship get tickets either free, or in the contract at a reduced cost.
For any game, you're probably looking at a minimum of about 400 or so tickets being comped. But usually they're for a good reason. Tallahassee has a promotion for 800 school kids to get free tickets that 'excell academically', which is a pretty good reward... plus it makes the parent or guardian have to buy at least one ticket to get into the arena.

Visiting team gets 50 free tickets and usually the home team usually gets 50. Then sponsors and other special guest. Usually there are 300-800 comps a game. A lot of times people with free tickets don't show up.
