Maybe this was the only way they could get Florence to not jump to another league (assuming some other league would take them).

I agree with your thinking, exit. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the reason behind it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I thought there was discussion about a neutral site championship game before M&M took over.
Anybody know for sure?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I thought there was discussion about a neutral site championship game before M&M took over. Anybody know for sure? I did not hear anything like that last year, but then again Florence wasn't real close to making the playoffs last year. I have a feeling they will fall back on Tatonka's reasoning after seeing what the turnout is this year.
Keeping Florence may have been a factor, but we are not a major draw city like some of you are. We will pull roughly 1200 to 1800 fans thru the season, 2000+ on opening night. Last year we had 3500 on opening night, so I am a little concerned where we are headed. It is possible they were keen on the idea that several candidates were already seeking local ownership of the team(We had Atlanta based owner in '06).

Well, Florence re-upped with the AIFL prior to the change to the AIFA. This was just about the time when the WIFL broke apart and the south looked to be decimated. The AIFL/AIFA did a good job getting Mississippi and Tallahassee as expansion teams, and convincing M&M to jump to the AIFA, opposed to the WIFL. But the south is still in shambles as long a fill-in team is 'needed' instead of simply working a schedule around 13 teams (7 north, 6 south).

Unless Florence is in the title game it will probably be a disaster attendance wise. Just another long line of bad decisions by this league...take the fans away from what should be your showcase game. Dumb!
One of the team's who make it to the title game should host it. Either the team with the best record or alternate between the winner of the the North and South each season.

FROM THE BALTIMORE BLACKBIRDS MESSAGE BOARD:
All,
The Official Press Release should go out tomorrow, but wanted to give you a heads-up since you have been patient. We have added three home games:
April 29th vs. Gulf Coast Raiders
May 21st vs. Reading Express
June 1st vs. Johnstown Riverhawks
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on March 7th. Nest members will receive an email in a day or two with information on how to buy tickets in a presale. There will be more details, but here is the basic pricing information for tickets:
Season Tickets Winner's Circle Season Tickets: $200. These are for the first two rows of seats.
Touchdown Tickets: $125. These are great seats in Sections 103-114 and 205-214.
Blackbirds Party Zone Package: $200. This will enable you to "tailgate" on the stage for an hour before the game. All you can eat tailgate style food, beer and cold drinks. Then all will sit in 102 or you can watch the game from the stage. After the hour you can also get food on stage or served at your seat, at your own expense. Pretty good set-up. You literally just go down the steps from the stage and our right at your seats. The seat serving is also an extra. This is limited to 100!
Single Game Tickets Winner’s Circle Tickets ($40): First two rows that surround the field.
Touchdown Tickets ($25): Sections 103 to 114 and 205 to 214.
Winning Drive Tickets ($20): Sections 101, 115-116, 201-204, 215-229
First and Ten Tickets ($15): Sections 301-329 (the entire upper level).
We will also have group rates and military discounts. All ticket information should be on the site in a day or two.
Stay tuned!
Thanks,
John Wolfe General Manager Baltimore Blackbirds
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Hopefully this greatly improves the chances of survival in the league. I was a bit worried about the originally planned 2 home game schedule. This is definitely good, and welcomed news.

Congrats to the blackbirds scoring some more home dates. Does having 13 games now make you guys eligible for the playoffs? Ticket prices are a little steep, but I'm sure they needed to be that high to pay the rent...
See you on the 10th in Reading...

Triple shenanigans on the AIFA.
1st - adding a team with a limited schedule into the league.
2nd - changing the schedule by adding games (anyone say 2005 AIFL)
3rd - creating an unbalanced schedule (Reading has what 16 games now?)

I was wondering if reading gets credit for playing those 2 extra games....how do you figure out seedings for playoffs if teams don't play the same amount of games...

Congrats on the new dates. It would be next to impossible to get a fan base with 2 home games.
