Good thing the championship is at a neutral site, else people would be pregnant doging about filler teams. Sykotyk There is the possibility that the Phantoms get home field advantage should they make it to the championship game, thereby eliminating the neutral site idea. But I do like that the venue is already picked before the season...kinda like how the NFL awards Super Bowls to stadiums in advance.

What if Danville had been chosen to host the game, or Canton? How would the teams in the South react to that?

They would have cried about it I think the Championship game should have been in Canton, Eire, or Johnstown we are the Only three original teams. I also think if the Championship is in the south the All Star game should be in the North, and when the Championship is in the North the All Star Game in the South I like them picking the Championship site before the season starts, and should the Phantoms make it to the Championship, just remember Home field didn't help Rome oh yeah and didn't help the Freeze 2005

Call me crazy, but I think the championship game should just go to the team with the winning record, with none of this neutral site nonsense. It's not like these teams have gargantuan followings of die-hard fans that can drop everything and go to a championship five states away. Part the reason the teams are successful at all is because they offer an affordable night out to their home fans. That goes right out the window by moving things to neutral site and piling all of the travel costs onto the cost of a ticket. Teams already have a harder time getting crowds when the weather turns nice. If the average fan will pass on a game because it is sunny out, what makes the league think they will travel to a neutral site to see a game?
Comparing the AIFA Championship to the Super Bowl and saying a neutral site should work here is crazy. Part of the reason the Super Bowl can sell out at a neutral site is because about half of the people in the seats don't care about the game -- they are there for business, or to watch the halftime show, or because it's a status symbol to say you went there. The same can't be said of the AIFA Championship.

The easiest way (since it's hard to judge records between two divisions that rarely play eachother), is for one year, the North representative will host the title game (despite their record) and the next the South (despite their record).
This way, you know if you win your division, you'll know it's in the south, or you know if you win your division, it's hosted in the north.
Similar to how MLB did before using the ASG as the decider with the World Series.

Chill Tatonka...I am happy it is in Florence...regardless of who plays for the title, I will be there. I am excited just to have indoor football down here.
I believe the title game should move each year and alternate between a North venue and a South venue.

Oh boo hoo There is no crying in football!
Maybe we will, maybe we won't. But if we do I sure hope Canton is on the other side of the ball. We won't get to face you this year otherwise.

I think the league decided on Florence hosting because of it's proximity to all other teams. The Florence Civic Center is located at the intersection of I-20 and I-95, approximately half way between NYC and Miami.
I don't think the attendance will be up unless the 2 teams that are playing have bus/carpool trips to the games. I would be glad to put together some hotel/directions information for anyone wanting to come to the games.

There was a rumor going around that the league had secured some lodging and transportation deals for fans of participating teams.
Time will tell if that is right or not.

I can tell you that probably less than 100 people from the northern champion's city will make the trip down. Last year, other than the Legends staff, I'd have to say Myth and his son were the only two Legends fans that made the trip. Even if you figure that there might be 10 fans from each team that want to go, regardless if their team makes it, and probably 50-100 that'll go from the north if their team does, and 250-500 from the southern champion's fan base,... you're still looking at only 440 to 740. That means Florence will have to make up the bulk of the ticket sales. Let's assume they do well and pull in 2,000 fans.
That still puts them at anywhere from 2440 to 2740. What type of atmosphere will this game have? And on top of it, both teams must travel. Imagine Canton and Mississippi playing in Florence. That's a road trip for both teams, regardless.
Now, picture a game that rotates between the north champions' home and the south champions' home. For argument sake, since the North had the Atlantic IFL title game on 05, and the south had the AIFL title game in 06, that the north would get it in this rotation.
Take the 1,500-2,000 or so Canton fans that'd show up in general. Take 50-100 Mississippi fans that make the trip, Throw in another few thousand bandwagon fans wanting to cheer their city onto a championship. You might get 4,000+. A huge atmosphere. And only one team had to travel, while the other didn't.
This league is not so big as to have logistical headaches with regard to their championship game that they can't simply have it determined one or two weeks prior to the game being played.
