I just want to say again I don't blame the refs for the loss because I said a couple of time I thought Rockhold would of make the FG to win any how. I just wish thats what would of happen its easier to take the loss.

I think there needs to be some intense officials training.
For example: I read in the Reading paper that Melo said he trapped the ball against the wall and that's how he caught it.
If I remember correctly, Mason caught a ball in the first Reading game in Canton by trapping it against the wall and the pass was called incomplete.
Definite inconsistencies that need to be corrected.

I'm going to have to agree on the officals training...When was the last time you heard of a "do over" in any professional sport....for me this was a first at the River rats/Phantoms game. I even talked to an offical during the game and asked him about making a call and he said "I can't they took my whistle"

I agree too. The officiating is awful at times. Take away the "supposed"Cooper Fumble which led to a Legends TD and take away the "controversial" Ocasio TD catch with 4 seconds left and the Express still win. At the very least, If they were both blown calls, they offset one another. This stuff happens in the NFL frequently........

Well you have to remember that it was in Reading and ofcourse they are going to replay a call that went against us. If it was in Canton it would have been the exact opposite they wouldn't have showed the funble but they would have showed the last td about 100 times. Just can't wait for the rematch at the championship game. Gl the rest of the season Canton and see you again. and I have to put this up there for the fight they gave You're right. We wouldn't have shown it because we don't have a video board. LOL I refuse to play the part of Turf Burn and the River Rat's fans and blame the officials for a loss. Won't do it. Congrats on the win. Now hold on a minute. If your going to use my name in vane you should have your facts correct. I never said the RiverRats lost because of the officials. I agreed that Johnstown would have won that game but it would not have been as lopsided. The refs were putrid that game as well as other games throughout the league and its obvious the league is finally coming to grips with it. At our game Saturday vs. Florence, we had to keep a log in the scorekeepers box, documenting each penalty that was called. We had to put which ref called it, the time it was called, who it was on, if they were on offense or defense and if it was accepted or declined. The Head Linesman was tasked to come to the box after each penalty and give us specifics on the call for documetation. This sheet was to be forwarded to the league after the game so it could be reviewed with film to check the quality of the officiating. All Non Calls were to be submitted by the respective coaches with the same information. I dont know if this occured at other games but it did at ours and Im glad someone is finally taking a look at the officials. But in no way did I say the Rats lost "Because of the officials"! They lost, AND the refs were horrible. The outcome of the rematch kind of validates that.

The refs in this league remind me of umpires in baseball even thou they all have the same rule book each one calls a different strike zone, O'well we could write a 2000 page novel on what the refs screw up. Just wondering does anybody know what they make a game maybe the problem is you get what you pay for

I was in the perfect spot to see the catch (same endzone, other corner).
But I had my eyes closed.
lol!
Can I say that the Legends players are cool? They are a friendly bunch and I wish them well. Just not when they're playing my boys! Thanks for the awesome intense game!!!!

Definitely. I was pretty wiped out, too. Ten hours in costume and five other mascots to assist was a LOT. Best wishes, Pic Man!

Turf Burn, you are right ... you never blamed the officials for the loss. My mistake, I apologize.
What I meant to say was I'm not going to harp on it all week.
Now, I just saw the video from the game. Melo said he trapped the ball between himself and the boards. The ball is very clearly shown on the ground near Melo's feet. He finds it, picks it up, holds it above his head and looks at the official like he caught it. The ref signals touchdown and the rest is history. The official was behind the play and the camera was in front.
That being said, we had other chances we did not capitalize on. That's why we lost, but seeing that video didn't make it go down any easier.
Good to hear that the league is pushing some sort of accountability for the officials.

Did you see the questionable Cooper fumble that led to a Legends TD or when DeForest Hart threw his helmet and was'nt ejected? Those things didnt go down well for me either..........

DeForest should have been run. No doubt. However, at that point the damage was done and him not being there for the last 4.6 seconds wouldn't have meant a pint of urine. Regarding the fumble. Cooper received the pass, got both feet down, was in the process of making a "football move" and lost the ball. Questionable? Yes. However, that call was a hell of a lot closer than having the ball lying on the field and calling it a catch. Hey, as stated earlier. I'm done talking about the officiating and how bad it was (I think we can all agree that there was poor officiating). Reading wins, congratulations on the win. My focus now rests solely on the Erie Freeze and keeping that number 2 seed.
