Here is that article:
Freeze trade Benjamin to Legends
Published: April 04. 2007 2:24PM
Erie Freeze defensive leader Roosevelt Benjamin was traded to the Canton Legends today to complete the deal that returned kicker J.R. Cipra to the Freeze earlier this week.
Benjamin, a star at Central High School and Clarion University of Pennsylvania before joining the Freeze, said he asked to be traded after the Freeze denied his request to have his contract voided.
"I wouldn't leave this place and play anywhere else unless this situation was to come up," Benjamin said. "This is a bad situation right now."
Benjamin cited the team's travel practices, the number of players the team dresses for games and the frequency of practices for his discontent, among other factors.
Freeze owner David Hodas confirmed the trade was a one-for-one deal that returned Cipra to Erie, where he starred on the team that lost in the 2005 league championship game. Cipra has not kicked for Canton since Feb. 23 and has missed all four of his field-goal attempts this season.
Benjamin, a 6-foot 2-inch, 260-pound linebacker, is Erie's third-leading tackler and the seventh-leading tackler in the American Indoor Football Association. He's also an assistant coach at Cathedral Prep and works with troubled youth as an intervention specialist at Cornell Abraxas Learning Center in Erie. He will continue to live and work in Erie.
He goes from the Freeze, which is 1-6 and last in the North Division, to the second-place Legends (4-2), the defending league champions.
"At the end of the day this is a business," Hodas said. "We look for the best football players and he's definitely been one of the best guys on the team. At this point in the season I know he's disappointed with the wins versus losses. We've even talked. One of our conversations was he was asking about being released. He's even talking about next year suiting back up in Erie. That's just the way things go sometime, I guess."
The Freeze host the Legends April 21 at 7:05 p.m. at Tullio Arena.
For more on the trade, read Thursday's Erie Times-News.

to be honest I never heard where Cipra was released by Canton I only heard it on the message board, but it not like I think Canton is above keeping on the roster so he couldn't go somewhere else. I wish the team or league required tranactions to be post on the site so the fans know whats going on

Why the hell did the Freeze do this? Did they try protesting to the league when Canton decided to pull this crap? I love Cip but I did not want the Freeze to give up one of their best defensive player. I hope RB decides not to play to his fullest for Canton in hopes of being cut and picked back up by the Freeze. I think the legend/freeze game just got personal.

After reading the story it sounds like RB wanted out of Erie, but even so this has to be one of the most uneven trades ever. makes you wonder whats going on with this league

Doh, must have posted it when I wasen't looking. Huh??? So having to travel to Canton is going to solve this? On Canton for their treatment of Cip and on RB lousy excuses.

wow this is a joke.... i agree though i am DEFIANTLY not impressed with coach Arnold's way of handling the game..... he has done a way worse job with the same people then crafts and esposito did. really a shocker. and really think about it traveling to the game in cars and not staying overnight in hotels, come on thats a joke way of handling it. especially to Carolina and Danville i agree with him i would not like to do that either.

I've seen everything since day one. And Coach Arnold is by far the best coach of the three. He is handling everything the way it should be. Everyone sees what is on the surface. There is a reason for this. And if you knew, you would see why someone went to the papers to cry about it. The only thing wrong here is Canton saying JR was on the roster. 2. Crafts? ?? He could have cared less about anything in general. He'd rather sit and watch the Chillers dance instead of winning games. Let alone understand the game in general. 3. Esposito? ?? The only thing he had going for him was the entertainment factor. Other then that it was all Lies, Lies,Lies.
