I called in to Jet 1400's "The Sport Blitz" last night to talk about the Freeze. The show hosts said they are trying to get Dave Hodas on the show some time this week. The Sports Blitz airs from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. If I find out exactly what day and time he is going to be on, I'll update everyone.

Cool, keep us up to date, I'm very interested in hearing Hodas talk about the issues this season.
What did you actually talk about?

I just wanted to know in general if the hosts were hearing any talk about the Freeze, since they probably know and/or talk to a lot of sports fans in general. I asked if they thought the sport was gaining any legitimacy with fans or if it was still too far outside of the mainstream. Just their overall impressions so far.
They said people aren't talking. Chris Hughes said he hadn't been to a game so far this season. They said it's been hard this season because they aren't winning. I said that it looked like attendance was on par with last year even though they are losing. They mentioned the attendance numbers seemed to be inflated. Jim LeCorchick (one of the hosts) knows coach Arnold and said he was a good coach. Jim also said that Hodas has been working hard to make the team work and that Erie is a hard sell, even for organizations like the Otters. I did mention I had heard some bad things (referring to TMTM's comments about payroll issues and Blackshear leaving), but I didn't say anything more specific than "bad things".
After I hung up, they likened indoor football to professional wrestling. With the spectacle being first and the game/play second. I think comments like that come from people that have never gone to a game. Chris Hughes also mentioned it looked like they played on a wavy rug.
I should find out later today when Dave is going to be on. I'm interested to hear what he has to say and what he is interviewed about, but I won't dare call to ask him any questions.

"but I won't dare call to ask him any questions. "
Why not? We deserve an explanation, sugar coated or not.

"but I won't dare call to ask him any questions. " Why not? We deserve an explanation, sugar coated or not. I'm tired of being labeled negative and the only questions I have would focus on the negatives (like what is his reaction to the Benjamin comments about travel and practice, what happened with Blackshear, and are people not getting paid). Plus, I don't think it would be fair to jump Mr. Hodas like that on the air and only bring more negativity to the organization.

Wavey rug you got to admit thats pretty accurate for Erie's turf. Yes, it's embarassing. I think that should be top priority in getting replaced.

I talked to Jim LeCorchick tonight. They are still trying to set something up with Hodas. Jim will let me know when they get the interview scheduled.

Sorry, Jim LeCorchick didn't let me know that Dave Hodas was going to be on Friday.
Hodas denied the financial trboule rumor. Said everyone has been paid and they will be back next year.

Hodas is supposed to be on again this week. I would guess either Thursday or Friday.
So, if you could ask Mr. Hodas one question, now that the season is over, what would it be?

My question to Dave Hodas would be "What do you think you have to do as an organization to win your fans back, such as slocoma, who have jumped off the bandwagon and now root for a sub par .500 baseball club in the Phillies? "

My question to Dave Hodas would be "What do you think you have to do as an organization to win your fans back, such as slocoma, who have jumped off the bandwagon and now root for a sub par .500 baseball club in the Phillies? " Actually, doesn't still being a fan of a sub-.500 team indicate that a person ISN'T a bandwagon jumper? I don't know that it's jumping off the bandwagon to be critical of a team that has come off the kind of year that the Freeze have had. Dave is a nice guy, but at some point there need to be some tough questions asked about the direction of the team. The team has lost a lot of talent to Canton and Pittsburgh over the last two years, why? Is enough being done to keep the team viable as one of the premiere teams in the league? How solvent is the team? It’s not enough to just be able to play out the schedule; you have to be able to treat your team well, to advertise, and to get information out – all of which requires money and sweat equity. The fact that Secky was so awful this season, but wasn't replaced until the end of the season raises questions about the team’s ability to locate talent beyond whoever shows up for the tryout combines and ffriends of current players. The secondary has been dreadful most of the season, but there’s been little change there since the season began. Again this raises questions about the team’s ability to find talent. What kinds of things are going to be done to attract more talent?

Hey, if you're critical, you're a bandwagon fan according to these guys.
The worst part, from what Joe said, is that Secky quit. He wasn't even let go. If he didn't quit, he would still have been at QB for the last two games.
I think it's hard for these teams to "attract talent". They all pay the same, so are there other incentives (besides being part of a winning team) that an owner can offer?
From what the paper reported, Ro wasn't happy with the lack of practice and there was something going on between him and coach Arnold. Dinkins also was unhappy with Arnold, according to the paper. Maybe it's time to get rid of Arnold?
Personally, I would like to see Ro and Dinkins back.

I don't know about wanting either Ro or Dinkins back. Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties are down since Benjamin left and Donald Germany has been the best new addition to the team. Dinkins had a lot of flash, but makes nearly as many mistakes as Secky while trying to force the ball and prove that he is Superman.

I so agree with Rich. Ro was good for atleast 2 illegal defenses a game. Dink was famous for his behind the back no look throws for interceptions. Not to mention his bigger then Elvis ego. Both players did get along with Coach Arnold. One of the real reasons why Dink left is because of his mouth.
As for Seky, his numbers matched Dinks this year. But he sucked at throwing interceptions. With the addition of Matt at QB. It was quite the improvement. And the fact that he had two days to prepare for the Pittsburgh game, and put up 72 points is a feat in itself.
The Freeze do get talent from the tryouts. We do get alot of players wanting to come up midseason and tryout or play. But it is a matter of having the funds to get them here. I do know of a few players that played here this year that want to jump ship(from good standing teams) and play here next year. I won't name names, but one played for Mississippi.
Issues still need addressed. Like new turf, advertizing, and such. hopefully this will all get resolved by next season.
