Article is not up on goerie.com yet but Jovon Johnson already left the Freeze for the AFL. Better hope it works out cause' I don't think the Freeze will be re-singing him again.

I think that might be the quickest entry/exit I've ever seen.

He signed with the Las Vegas Gladiators. He also had a tryout with the Pittsburgh Steelers Wednesday morning, and hopes to make it on their practice squad.

Johnson's contract had language in it which let him get out of it if he signed with any league higher than the AIFL/A. It really should come as no surprise that he is playing elsewhere next year. Also, his tryout with the Steelers lasted about 10 minutes, and he did not have good feelings coming out of it.

Jovon has made it to the bigtime, he's signed on to the active roster for Today's game versus KC. He must be showing he's worthy to stay off the practive squad. news.steelers.com/article/70165/

Erie's Johnson cut from Steelers roster
Associated Press PITTSBURGH - Jovon Johnson, a rookie defensive back from Iowa, was released Monday by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and quarterback Brian St. Pierre was re-signed.
The move came two days after the Steelers added Johnson to their 53-man roster in case injured cornerback Deshea Townsend couldn't play Sunday against Kansas City. St. Pierre was released to make room for him.
Townsend played, despite being listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, and Johnson was not activated for the Steelers' 45-7 victory.
Johnson has been with three teams in less than three weeks. He expected to play this year for his hometown Erie (Pa.) Freeze of the American Indoor Football Federation before signing with Las Vegas of the Arena Football League. He was added to the Steelers' practice squad last week following a tryout.
The 5-foot-8, 177-pound Johnson had 17 career interceptions for Iowa.
The Steelers also cut seventh-round draft pick Cedric Humes, a running back from Virginia Tech, from their practice squad and returned second-year defensive end Shaun Nua to the practice squad.

JJ signed with The Freeze......... Then signed with AFL team.........nulified Freeze contract.......... Then signed on Pittsburgh's practice squad.....nulified AFL contract............ Then signed on to Pittsburgh's active roster......... Now cut from active and will be back on practice squad..........
Maybe he can sign up for an intermural flag football team next.

That's normal in the NFL to get switch from active to practice squad and vice versa many many many times.. They should have replaced townsend with johnson since they won by 38 points.... Deshay Townsend IMO is a hack. Why do you think opposing teams consistently throw his way?

Was just browsing the Freeze site... I like how you guys are trying to push the whole thing like you got a player moved up, but jeez... don't you think most people are going to see right through that, especially after reading his quotes about the Freeze when he signed? If it were up to me, I wouldn't focus on someone who publicly dissed my team like that.
Kudos to whomever made the contact and signed the guy, honestly. It was a great signing if not for his mouth. But it lasted like a week, he never came close to suiting up for the Freeze, what gives?

He signed with the Steelers. Then they released him. Umm, yeah, I know what happened. Go back and re-read the posts again, maybe after the third or fourth time you'll understand.

Don't know why the organization think they helped him move up, if he played for a year or two maybe but not when he was only with the team for like 5 days. I think the freeze are so worried about the way they will be viewed on this signing go wrong that they are trying to shine some light on it. It was a bad move, should just forget about it and move on. riverhawk, first he signed with an AFL team then he signed/released by the steelers (he better get use to the signing/releasing thing cause so far thats the way his caeerer is looking like to be)

I have a few additions to this thread.
One, The Erie Freeze knew beforehand that JJ was more then likely going to sign in a higher league. JJ's agent stated that fact before. JJ also stated that he wanted to be with The Freeze if he wasn't picked up by a higher league. So, it was our good ol' Erie Times newspaper that wrote the story that looks like JJ dissed the team. As we have seen many times before with The Times, they seem to bad mouth anyone and everyone in the paper. Except for Bob Jarzomski, he seems to be for the team.
People also seem to forget that Coach Arnold was a Steeler before, and did talk to the Steelers about JJ from the tapes he reviewed. The mere fact that JJ put his ego aside and signed with The Freeze.
Just stating some facts, because Jovon has been taken some hits in here about it.
