I think what you have here is a classic case of an athlete putting his foot in his mouth. The media and fans don't need to know everything that's going on behind the scenes as much as we would like to.
What teams and athletes need to realize is that negativity sells newspapers. That's all they got anymore. Too many outlets for information to plop down .50 for a paper with yesterday's news in it. So, when you say something like, "I'm only here until something better comes along." you know it'll be front and center.
If he wouldn't have said it, we'd all be here talking about how nice it is that a former Freeze player is on an NFL roster. Instead, this is what you have.
Hopefully, other organizations learn from this.

I don't believe it had anything to do with the organizations. Or even the player inserting a foot in this situation. I was at the Freeze press conference that day. And Jovon was also there in support of The Freeze. He even got called up to the podium to explain every aspect. I believe it was all the newspapers doings. One reason, the story was leaked to the tv news two days before the press conference. And the newspaper, instead of waiting two days(with their invite), decided to print what they wanted. Because they were the second to find out.
