you are totally missing the point. it goes well beyond the fan participation but the caliber of play you can recieve from players by resting them does leaps and bounds for competative play. -i have nothing to base this on because i've never heard of it. don't get me wrong i totally agree with exhibition games(before the season) but can't see it attracting the same crowd with nothing a stake. -with todays technology it doesn't matter where my team is playing i can stay connected with whats going on with the team and the rest of the league for that matter. as i said goodluck just glad were not doing this after the season has started Last season, if i remember correctly, the league allowed for expanded rosters for these exhibition games. So instead of the minimum 24 or so players they were allowed a max of close to 30, just for that game. Atleast that was the case for Baltimore last season during the Reading game. This helped rest the regulars and give some bench players some playing time.

If done properly, these exhibition games can be quite beneficial to fans and teams alike.
There are many times where your starters can't get to the game for whatever reason (work, injury, other commitments, call ups, etc.). This gives the team the opportunity to work in the back ups and see what they can do without risking a loss.
Additionally, a great opportunity to build a fan base. Give season ticket holders a reward for investing in the team by giving the exhibition game for free and charging everyone else a ridiculously low price to "preview" the product.
There will be a risk anytime you take the field. IMHO, the up side outweighs the downside here. Especially that week 17 game.

just like i said exhibition games are a great idea(before the season), and like you said if done properly their beneficial. unfortunatly what you have are two teams not taking a bye week to play an exhibition game.
-please someone tell me a successful professional sport that does this in mid season, besides all star games(baseball, basketball)

I don't know, but shouldn't Wyoming be using the week Reading comes to them to continue catching up with the Eastern Conference in games played? Just a thought. And no I'm not knocking the AIFA, but rather the Cavalry's decision to play an Eastern Conference team in the middle of an already tightly packed schedule with West teams.

I dont believe so. Again, its what the teams ownerships have worked out. Its their choice to play or take off on the bye weeks. They choose to play and as a fan i choose to watch.

With Wyomings schedule yet to be released its hard to answer that question. And once the west is settled, it might not be possible for these "exhibition" games to be played anyway. So, again, calm down and let's see how it plays out. I do, however, commend the Express and Calvary organizations for thinking ahead. Something that's appears to be rarely done.
