A more "established" league? Now that is hilarious and this coming from a team that reportedly is still catching up on paying players months after the season is over? The positive here for the AIFA is that we can get a more established and responsible team to put in Baltimore.
Cya later Blackbirds. Dont let the door hit ya in the a$$.

Cya later Blackbirds. Dont let the door hit ya in the a$$. I like you Gene. I have no problems with you, but I have a feeling that this was not entirely the Blackbirds issue. Sure the owner is an incompetent nitwit, but there is plenty of behind the scenes stuff that we commoners are not privy to and never will be. I know a lot of people in the Blackbirds org/team. They are a victim of circumstances right now. I am confused as to why those still involved have not followed the vapor trails of Coach Simpson (who appears to have made a smart move). The allegiance to the owner baffles me. But in their minds, they feel they can still deliver a quality product. I am willing to give them a second chance. Hell, maybe they can make it work for them. Time will tell.

Technically, every league except the WIFL is "more established" than the AIFA, and one could make the argument that they were "more accomplished" this season at least.

The business model isn't the problem. In fact, the CIFL business model appears to be better than any other league's (well, save the "no money down" thing the AIFA has going). The problems with the CIFL reside in the complete lack of owner checking.
Which, come to think of it, seems to be the AIFA's problem, too!

Just wanted to say thanks to all the AIFA fans. I have been a frequent reader and occasional poster and will still check in for news. Good luck to all of you and your individual teams. I know you all bleed your team colors, so hopefully you will have a successful 2008. I enjoyed our season in the AIFA. Met a lot of great players, coaches, staff, and fans. Special thanks to Bernie in Reading and James in Johnstown for your help and support. I was looking forward to home and away games with you guys in 2008, but maybe I can drop in as a fan.
I will just say there is always more to the story and it is unfortunate that things could not be worked out to keep the Blackbirds in the AIFA, but we are looking forward to our future. Stay tuned.
Thanks,
John Wolfe VP Baltimore Blackbirds

Unless you have documented proof on this "no money" garbage. Then it is considered an all out lie. And could pose some legal battles later...........

Just because you don't agree, doesn't mean it's a lie. It's the story told by many owners of teams who have been courted by the AIFA. Until you can see the other side's point of view as well Joe, you should stick to the car washes and beer bong contests instead of moderating adult discussions...

Name some teams. Don't just say what you have heard. I saw a recant thread awhile back, because someone's sources were wrong. Name one team in the league now. You can't!
Maybe you should just be able to post in the crap, crap, and more crap thread only. Because what you are spewing is the same ol' crap.

I have never heard of the "no money down" deal. I HAVE heard of the deferred payment program. Maybe that is where the confusion comes from. The league fees for team owners have to be payed, but not necessarily up front. If a team does not pay their fees, then they are expelled from the league... like Baltimore.

Someone's sources were wrong because he was in negotiations to become a certain league's media director.
Then he heard about the questionable business practices in Rochester (I don't care who invited whom, that's not an acceptable maneuver to try and woo a team at their league's championship game), and retracted his retraction. It was an unprofessional move for me to say "that's blatantly wrong" when only the person I said it about said it was. But, if there were a salary offered beyond the insult of "we'll give you some money per press release you write," it probably would still be there.
The retraction was a calculated business decision. And one that didn't turn out like I had hoped it would. And one that did get me some flack from other media professionals until I explained the situation.
I wish the AIFA all the luck in the world. Unfortunately, with the current direction that I see, they're going to need all that luck. Hopefully Simpson can knock some heads and get some good direction in that league office (I know he's talking to them, and I know he knows what he's talking about), because I don't see it for a second.
And it isn't just the AIFA. I don't see that direction in any indoor league right now. As someone that's followed the game longer than any of you in here (except Syk), that really does sadden me.
