This has been the happiest / most painful week for me. I have been waiting 7 yrs for this and it finally happened. My son started football this week and I being the dad, and forgeting how out of shape I am in, accepted the task of asst. coaching. For the past 2 days I have woke up barely able to get out of bed, LOL. I have quickly learned though that running laps isn't significant punishment for misbehaving 1 mile/day running kids, But leg lifts are.

Outside of work i spend alot of my time off my feet laying down due to my bad back. Eventually, i'll have to get it operated on but i doubt it will improve it all that much as i have chronic arthritis in it. Geez, i am only 42 and i feel like i am over 70.......

Both of you be careful with those back surgerys. I had a guy I worked with that ended up getting one and now he walks around with a morphene (wrong spelling) drip in his back because of the pain. The best thing to try first is rehab on it if you haven't already. Physical therapy has come a long way since the begining. Its hard work but less risks involved. Good luck to the both of you.

yall whimps.......try having a chronic nerve disease in your right leg and lower back!!! I have had this for over a year now and it sucks. Just the slight is touch on my leg and I'm in the floor . A little advice for all of ya. If you ever have to have knee surgery let them cut you don't let the do arthroscopic surgery on you. Do the research for yourself.

oh my goodness. I might as well complain too, lol. I am 22, have had numerous surgeries on my heart, including one major open heart. It was a septal reccession, maening they broke open my chest, pulled out my heart, shaved the inside of it, and put me back together. During that time I had a major stroke, now have a pacemaker, a seisure disorder, and nuerofibromotis (a tumor disease). So yall have it easy compared to me. LOL

Back surgery last May for a herniated disc, only missed one game... Best decision I ever made. I still kick myself when thinking about the pain I endured for over a year before finally getting it done.

You guys think you have it rough. I'm 17, and the other day I got a hangnail!!!!
But honestly, I just got my driver's license, and I'm trying to enjoy my youth before I have health issues to complain about, haha.

Im 46 and theres not enough room here for my medical problems. Degenerative joint disease in the knee, arthritis in both knees and neck, TMJ, Carpel Tunnell bi-laterally, I know I know: but hey, I wont let it slow me down. I coach Youth Football, I umpire baseball up to High School and I referee basketball. And oh yeah, Im morbidly obese at 330 lbs. Lesson to be learned here is two-fold, dont get old, and if you do, take good care of yourself while your young...

I've got a coaching injury story. Our first day of highschool football practice in Georgia was Wed. August 1.
I coach defensive line, and during that first practice I nealt to simulate the snap for a drill we were doing. Everything was fine until I pulled my groin while standing back up.
A word of advice to all you coaches out there, ESPECIALLY you guys that coach youth ball. Don't let your players know that you're hurt. If they smell blood in the water, you'll never survive! LOL
