A new indoor football league popped up on OurSportsCentral yesterday called the Indoor Gridiron Football League. So far, the only team in the IGFL is the Snohomish County Stallions, based in Everett, Washington (Note: Everett already has an af2 team called the Hawks). The most notable detail of this league is that it plans to begin play in fall 2008. The other most notable detail is some of the rules they plan to use (no field goals, no extra points, and no holding calls). Well, just what the indoor football world needs, another league. At least this one is trying something radically different than every other league already out there. I think the fact that they are going to play in the fall will hurt them, though. news.moneycentral.msn.com/provider/providerarticle.aspx?Feed=ACBJ&Date=20070626&ID=7087184

I can understand the kicking, but how can you not call holding, if I was a defense coach I tell my DB just grab and hold the WR every play

Its getting ridiculous now. Way too many leagues. The worst part is for this league, it's playing in the middle of the outdoor season. there is no good day of the week for them. Thursday is a College Football day, Friday is High School Football, Saturday is College, and Sunday and Monday are NFL. That leaves Tuesday and Wednesday. Not a lot of people are going to go out on those days considering people have to work and kids are going to be in school the next day pending the week.

The credibility of Indoor Football is going down by the minute. They will give Arena Football a bad name. The good thing is they won't be operational for long. The fact that no holding penalties are called will hurt them. Football fans like to see lots of points scored but fans aren't stupid. Fans like the battle between offense and defense. This will hurt them. Playing in the Fall will hurt them also. Just to much football going on at that time of year. You can tell these guys know nothing about football. There are too many leaders and not enough followers in Indoor Football. There needs to be some kind of way to regulate the number of leagues. When this is done it will better the game of Indoor Football.

There is a way to regulate the number of indoor football leagues being formed. Especially leagues like the indoor gridiron, blah blah blah.....When an average of 9 people show up at their games, that league will get "regulated" after about 3 weeks.
On the other hand, there are a ton of minor baseball leagues, and I think that says there are enough fans and markets to go around.
Same with indoor football, there is enough to go around.
