Express move is no surprise (6/20/12)Seeing that the Reading Express will not play next season, my reaction was that it had to happen sooner or later ("Express shuts down for 2013," Reading Eagle, June 13). My son and I have attended numerous Express games over the last five years. Seeing so many empty seats, I wondered how long it was going be until something like this would happen. It really is a shame because not only were the games exciting to watch, but also the entertainment and prizes that were given away made for a very enjoyable evening. It's obvious indoor football is a hard item to sell. Look what happened to the Philadelphia Soul after it won the AFL championship. That team, too, went dormant for a couple seasons. I know the Lavenders will do all they can to get the team back for the 2014 season, but it's up to the people to make sure this doesn't happen again.
