KNOXVILLE, TN (June 21, 2012) – The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) is proud to announce the 2012 All-PIFL First and Second Teams.
The Richmond Raiders (10-2) lead the way with eight overall selections, including four first-teamers of which includes QB Antwon Young, K T.C. Stevens, OL Kynneth Moses, and DL Michael Woodhouse. Richmond was the only team to finish in both the top two in total offense (265 yards/game) and total defense (241 yards allowed/game) and Stevens led all kickers in scoring (140) and Uno’s (17).
Not far behind are the Division Champion Albany Panthers (10-2) placing seven overall selections with five coming from the defensive side of the ball. DL Tito Hannah landed on the first-team finishing the regular season as the league’s top sack artist (10) while DB Damian Daniels added another first-team nod to his mantle thanks to his nine interceptions, second most in the PIFL.
Columbus’ (6-6) earned five representatives with WR’s Maurice Dupree and London Crawford leading the way on the first-team. Dupree completed the 2012 PIFL season as the leader in points scored (242), TD receptions (40), and receiving yards (1278) while Crawford ended the season as the only receiver to top the century mark in catches (103) as well as was one of three receivers to top 1,000 receiving yards.
FB Kendrick Perry and his league-leading 20 rushing TD’s along with teammate DB Damian Huren, who finished as the league’s top tackler (61), lead five Swashbucklers in all who earned honors. Joining Perry and Huren on All-PIFL first-team are teammates OL Roman Pritt and DL John Paul Jones who led the team in sacks (6). Meanwhile, WR Jordan Rideaux gained second-team notoriety hauling in the third most receptions (85) as well as led the entire league in all-purpose yards (1305).
The Alabama Hammers (3-8) gathered seven nominations with three of them placed on the first-team. WR Mico McSwain nabbed a first-team nod after the ending regular season second in TD receptions (24) and defensive teammate LB Darian Payne took home a first-team spot leading the club in both tackles (45.5) and INT’s (4). Specialist Charles McClain swiped the first-team spot as a kick-returner averaging the most yards/game (113.2) as well as finished third overall in all-purpose yards (1132).
The Expansion Knoxville Nighthawks scooped up four nominations overall with DB Ginikachi Ibe getting the lone first-team nod ending the PIFL season with the most interceptions (10) as well as finishing second on the team in tackles (42.5). Teammates WR Ryan McDaniel and KR Kelvin Thompson got second-team nom’s leading the team in receptions (71) and second overall in the PIFL in kick return yards (366) respectively.
Of all the selections, there were four unanimous selections for All-PIFL first-team, Columbus Lions WR Maurice Dupree, Richmond Raiders K T.C. Stevens, Albany Panthers DL Tito Hannah and DB Damian Daniels.
