Richmond, VA- The Sioux Falls Storm (13-0) quest for an undefeated season keeps them atop the IFL Coaches’ Poll for a 14th consecutive week.
The Sioux Falls Storm (13-0) are one game away from accomplishing a feat no IFL team has ever accomplished, completing a perfect season. After defeating the Colorado Ice, 69-26, last week the Storm will face the Omaha Beef (6-7); a team that has historically given the Storm difficulties. The Beef ended the Storm’s hopes for a perfect season last year. Can they do it again? Kickoff is scheduled for 6/18 at 7:05 pm, local time.
There is no change between the Tri-Cities Fever and the Green Bay Blizzard for the second and third spots, respectively. Tri-Cities (12-2) ended their season with a franchise-record 12 wins and advance to the playoffs starting next week. There the Fever will face the fourth seed in the Intense Conference. The Blizzard (10-3) will face the sixth-ranked Wichita Wild in a game that is very important for the Wild’s playoff seeding.
In a bit of role reversal, one week after Colorado (8-6) jumped Bloomington (10-4) for the fourth spot, Bloomington rebounds and jumps Colorado this week. Bloomington’s regular season is over and the Edge will prepare to play the Green Bay Blizzard on Saturday June 23rd. The Ice finished their season with a 43 point loss to Sioux Falls but will prepare to take on Allen, Tri-Cities or Wichita in the playoffs.
There is no change in the sixth, seventh and eighth spots this week as the Wichita Wild, the Allen Wranglers and the Omaha Beef take each spot, respectively. The Intense Conference playoff picture is very unsettled, going into the final week. The games involving the Wild (8-5) and the Wranglers (8-5) will go a long way to determining which team gets which seeding. The Omaha Beef (6-7) after losing to the Nebraska Danger, 50-34, last week will take on the undefeated Sioux Falls Storm this week. Omaha was the last team to defeat the Storm.
The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (6-8) move back into the top ten after they defeated the Chicago Slaughter in dramatic fashion, 54-53, in double overtime. The Chicago Slaughter (6-8) come in tenth this week.
Both the Nebraska Danger and the Everett Raptors drop out of the top ten.
