If there were to be an AIFA Hall of Fame, what should the criteria be for inducting members.
If you had to create guidelines for inducting members, what would they be?
Who would be in consideration for the fist class? How many players per class? Who should be considered for the voting board?
Discuss!

Otherwise id love to see something like this done. Would the players on be able to be inducted if they played most or all of their career in the aifa?

These are the details I am looking to iron out.
I personally think the length of their time in the AIFA should be secondary to their accomplishments in the league. If they only spent two years in the AIFA, but excelled at an excellent level in their time in the AIFA, they would of course have to be considered and are definitely eligible for induction or at least nomination.
There are so many grey areas that need to eliminated in putting together a nomination/induction process that would be fair to the fans and the team player, staff, coaches...
For instance: Who is eligible (just players? or can coaches and team staff be included) Should time in service for the AIFA be a consideration (or based soley on accomplishments) Who submits nominations (Fans or a board?) Who votes on the nominations and votes for final approval for induction? How many nominees get inducted per year? Just one, or more?
There are a ton more questions that need to be answered if this were to be considered and to properly execute it where it appeals to everyone (Fans, Teams, and the League).

I am toying around with the idea. I am working out a few different designs. I will be talking with the league next week to get their blessing and work out the details of how to set it up for inductions. For instance. I know John Morris has "his guys" like Archie Smith. Archie is a decent player, but I do not think he should be the inaugural inductee. I want this to hold merrit and not become a laughing stock. If it is going to happen, i am going to ensure it is done the right way.

In all seriousness though, the term Hall of Fame should mean these guys were the best of all time. You'd need to see how they stack up after they retire compared to others. How can you know who the best all-time players are after only 4 seasons? You already have all_star teams

How can you know who the best all-time players are after only 4 seasons? You already have all_star teams I agree with that to an extent, actually most of it. But these leagues tend to come and go. If I were to wait for four years after a player hangs up the game, and the league becomes defunct, the players would not have any place to show their accomplishments, outside of TheStatGuys.com. I just think it would be a nice gesture to the players, coaches, staff, including PA announcers to be memorialized for years to come.

Voting should be done by a group of lets say 11 fans odd number so never a tie should occur. The criteria should be dominate at there position while they played. Also i would say the year after they retire they are eligible. I would say yes we should include Owners, General Managers, Broadcasters which would include pa announcers, 9th man and why not a super Fan section. The best way to do the Hall of fame is make it Hall of famers by the Fans. The fans are what makes the league special alot of hardcore fans that know more about the teams and players then local media outlets do. I also think this is an awesome idea Dave and have the induction done at a special dinner before the AIFA BOWL game. To me there should be more events going on to make the Aifa Bowl that much more special. I would also say for the championship to go back to the old way and have the ALL-star game the day before the championship. The kickoff classic still do to promote the new city but just call it who ever vs the Stars of the AIFA. The all-stars shoul have there day in the spotlight and most can not make the kickoff classic. Also the teams that are in the Championship their players are honored at the All-Star game but don't play this way no injuries can occur.

I think a panel of fans would be better. With team owners, there would be favorites that wouldn't be HOf material. (Archie being an example). I think owners, players, fans, and staff should be concidered. On all of these, a factor of how they helped promote the league should come into play. And besides stats, off the field activities should be concidered also(charity, time at schools, etc)

Yeah but when talking Hall of fame it's supposed to be about what you did on the field. Man of the year awards are for off the field stuff.
Let's be honest here though....do they have minor league hall of fame's for other sports? It's really easy to stand out if your talent dwarfs the others at this level, or say you get to play Ogden and Wasila 4 times a year.
