I guess we will see if any issues are addressed by John Morris. History indicates otherwise. for the sake of this league, one that I am fond of, I hope he does. I am not married to one league though. Should the Mariners leave the AIFA, I follow them. If they stay in the AIFA, I am fine with that too.

Mariners Media: Well spoken! The AIFA has legitimate issues to address during the coming off season. Yet jumping ship & trashing the brass really does not accomplish the goal of working together toward a more favorable solution; for any of our markets/teams. Like yourself, I am very well traveled. And I have seen the underbelly of several minor leagues. And they ALL have areas in dire need of attention; especially given the nature of our current recession & its’ impact upon small businesses. Of course, some feel it best to address their problems publicly. Others (the AIFA as one) tend to hold their cards closer to their vests. This latter approach can (admittedly) breed numerous unwarranted rumors & wild speculation. However, there is truth to the old adage, "the grass isn't always greener on the other side" and many the indoor team has jumped leagues only to regret the move. For example: Dan mentioned Columbus. True enough. They bolted to the SIFL. And their local newspaper deems them to be very happy; as the SIFL regional footprint better fits their travel budget. Yet how long will their fan base pay season ticket prices to see a 98-12 game against an outdoor semi-pro team? Or when 2-3 other victories in an otherwise stellar championship season came from playing local semi-pros in Greenville jerseys? It was not Columbus’ fault. It was not the SIFL’s fault. However, it was NOT pretty. Anyway, my point is that just as I have NO doubt that Thom Hagar WILL address those issues this off season, I also have NO doubt that JM will address the AIFA issues as well. So maybe we could go back to supporting those teams that choose to remain in the AIFA and wish those who leave well? And you are? When Mink and Morris pay Bill Hazen, I might revise my attitude.

Dan: I have read your previous threads about Bill Hazen; both here & over at OSC. So has there been anything further reported on this matter? Did I miss a press release regarding any claims and/or pending litigation from Mr. Hazen himself? I would simply like to get some form of confirmation, (beyond anonymous sources) that a debt is indeed owed before forming my own personal opinion.
No offense is intended to you personally. You are/were reporting based upon your sources. However, I have seen many cases wherein someone's source proved to be an individual with an agenda and/or an axe to grind. Call it the "Shirley Sherrod syndrome"?
However, with that said, IF Mr. Hazen IS owed money by any one (AIFA, JM, or a team) then he should indeed be paid. Promptly. I am in 100% agreement with you!
