I think when a "good man" like you describe crosses the line and fixes a championship game, most if not all of the fans of this league including for Baltimore shoud be outraged.
The fact you're going to quit because the truth is being spoken here is quite amusing.
I do feel bad for the Baltimore fans because you guys were on the verge of accomplishing something truly great and now it will be tainted.
I'm sure Baltimore fans will call us haters, but I trust the people I am hearing this from, and that doesn't even include the posters on this board.
I'm disgusted as a sports fan today.

I've had this discussion with JM. Andrew Haines brought football back to Erie. JM bought the already proven out league. He criticized AH about games notbeing played. But look what has happened this year out west.

Hmmph. It's all starting to unwind on what could be the final day of the AIFA ....
Quick thoughts: 1) I can't fathom that Chris Simpson would stoop to the tactics described in the rumor mill. 2) I CAN believe that Mink and Morris are out of money and won't pick up the Wyoming travel tab. 3) The Mink and Morris legacy? A couple of decent years, but never more than the status quo. Their egos got in the way, the quality of the product never elevated. Quality franchises like Columbus and Utah Valley bolted.
The good thing is that one quality franchise will be rewarded today.

The good thing is that one quality franchise will be rewarded today. I will say this again, and Dan is correct. The baltimore Mariners have absolutely NOTHING to do with whatever the league is allegedly doing. The Mariners will be there for one reason only, and that is to try to win a championship game. If you are going to hate the Mariners, do it because they are a great team, and because there is a player or two on the roster that makes your stomachs turn. Don't hate on the Mariners and accuse them of being cheaters when the entire organization is about as professionally run as a team at this level can be.

DJ, I may have jokingly said something about not wanting to be in a league with cheaters but I do want to clarify that ALL of these rumors seem to be circling around the LEAGUE (Morris) and not the Mariners.

Its cool. I know you were just stirring the pot. I did not want a casual observer to think that there was truth that it involves the Baltimore Mariners. I may bump heads with you (frequently), but there is definitely no hatred on my part towards you. I actually have a good time getting into it with you. This place would be boring if we all got along, sipping tea and eating crumpets.

DJ, I may have jokingly said something about not wanting to be in a league with cheaters but I do want to clarify that ALL of these rumors seem to be circling around the LEAGUE (Morris) and not the Mariners. RadioGuy, I appreciate that. I feel like we have a love/hate relationship via message board. Now that the dust has settled a little this morning. I first will say, I have actually been involved with the AIFA for three seasons, the CIFL for one, and the IFL briefly. In all honesty, I don't think any league can throw stones. Games get canceled, players don't get paid, teams fold, owners who have no business in the business get involved. All that said, things seemed to be improving year by year, but I do think their were some setbacks all around this year, so I expect an interesting, and active, offseason. That said, I have also enjoyed my time in the AIFA more than others. I actually have met great fans like Gene, Mitch, Joe, and although I have not met him personally RadioGuy. I also know that a lot of the "anger" comes out of the great rivalries we have. Say, what you will but the league had a great set-up this season in the East with Erie, Reading, Harrisburg, Richmond, and Baltimore. All in great proximity to each other and also great football towns. We also were treated very well in New Jersey and Fayetteville. When all is said and done Wyoming won the West and Baltimore won the East. Teams end up in the championship game for a reason. Having come from from a 1-12 debacle my first year I can't tell you how proud I am of everyone involved with the Mariners. So, when someone insinuates that we are cheating, or our championship will be tainted, being a Baltimore boy, I'm going to get my back up a bit. I also know the steps our GM went through to make this a great week for the Wyoming players, staff and fans. Our sponsors were kind enough to step up and they were able to go to Medievel Times, take a tour of DC, take a tour of the Sports Legends Museum, even see American Idol. They also will be treated to many a fine meal in the Baltimore area this weekend from our sponsors. I tell you I have seen the underbelly of indoor football and, and no disservice to anyone else, but this is the finest organization from top to bottom I have seen. I just hope everyone is rewarded for all their hard work with a win tomorrow. If we don't win, no shame is losing to a great Wyoming franchise. So, I have taken a chill pill as they say, am going to enjoy this whole weekend, and can't wait for the game tomorrow. I also wish all of you well and stay in touch through what should be a very interesting off season.

Mariners Media: Well spoken! The AIFA has legitimate issues to address during the coming off season. Yet jumping ship & trashing the brass really does not accomplish the goal of working together toward a more favorable solution; for any of our markets/teams. Like yourself, I am very well traveled. And I have seen the underbelly of several minor leagues. And they ALL have areas in dire need of attention; especially given the nature of our current recession & its’ impact upon small businesses. Of course, some feel it best to address their problems publicly. Others (the AIFA as one) tend to hold their cards closer to their vests. This latter approach can (admittedly) breed numerous unwarranted rumors & wild speculation. However, there is truth to the old adage, "the grass isn't always greener on the other side" and many the indoor team has jumped leagues only to regret the move.
For example: Dan mentioned Columbus. True enough. They bolted to the SIFL. And their local newspaper deems them to be very happy; as the SIFL regional footprint better fits their travel budget. Yet how long will their fan base pay season ticket prices to see a 98-12 game against an outdoor semi-pro team? Or when 2-3 other victories in an otherwise stellar championship season came from playing local semi-pros in Greenville jerseys? It was not Columbus’ fault. It was not the SIFL’s fault. However, it was NOT pretty. Anyway, my point is that just as I have NO doubt that Thom Hagar WILL address those issues this off season, I also have NO doubt that JM will address the AIFA issues as well. So maybe we could go back to supporting those teams that choose to remain in the AIFA and wish those who leave well?

Blackbeard, easy on the analogy "how long will their fan base pay season ticket prices to see a 98-12 game against an outdoor semi-pro team?" less be prepared to be bombarded with "that is exactly what is happening in the AIFA west.

Gene & djh0722:
Agreed. We have no argument. And I understand the anger and frustration of AIFA West owners, GMs, players & fans who had to endure those very same maddening situations.
My Columbus illustration was / is made solely to say that every league is experiencing problems right now. And please note that,(quoting myself) I DID say that: "I have NO doubt that Thom Hagar WILL address those issues this off season, I also have NO doubt that JM will address the AIFA issues as well."
My point remains. Many may disagree. So be it.
