Gene, if you really believe that anything Andrew Haines is involved with will work ... well, that is your opinion and you are most certainly entitled to it.
Okay, take a poll -- how many people want me to say what I really think?

Haines' first foray into indoor football ended with Carolyn Shiver throwing him out of the NIFL.
Look, if you aren't good enough to stay in Shiver's good graces, you're going to be worse than any of the four leagues out there right now. And we already saw how this ended.

Heard this crap before. The AIFL circa 2005 was supposed to be profitable if 2000-2500 fans came to a game. It was travel friendly blah blah blah. He'll try to get a team in Canton and probably Johnstown AGAIN. Then try to lure Erie in. Everything Haines has touched has turned in to a steaming pile. The GPBL will fail. And fail miserably. Cant be worse than what we have now. Players in Ogden refusing to play due to no insurance. No play clock in Ogden. Ridiculous travel to Alaska. Owners who sit on one teams bench and have influence over the game etc etc etc. I know we don't have a "utopian" league and we never will. No league is perfect. But what matters is how the league ownership handles the negative situations. Since they are preoccupied with two league owned teams, they don't have time for damage control. The league needs to sh!t or get off the pot with the league owned teams. If you can't find a reputable owner then that team needs to fall to the wayside. Gene, I agree that Morris shouldn't be on the bench. It's not professional IMO. He needs to buy a ticket and sit with the crowd. I honestly believe him standing there on the bench can intimidate the refs. I mean let's be honest, he could fire them if he wanted to. Or take his red, white and blue football and go home. Either way, he has the power.

Either way, ive seen enough. Im done promoting the league on facebook, myspace, here and anywhere else. Ive washed my hands of it. Just gonna support my team for the next 4 months and go from there.

I don't blame you for that. But getting all in with a Haines-ran league (and if he's involved, he's running it, because he certainly doesn't have any money to be a silent investor) is going to end the same way.

How many failed leagues has Haines run. I know he was part of the MAHL which milked a lot of cash from small towns before it failed to even complete one season. Only 6 teams and none could make payroll? LOL

Oh, don't worry...they didn't milk any cash from Wooster...the team had some zero STHs and no one really bothered to go to the games, either.

A.H. is not in charge of the league. But he is helping out with it. I know who is running it but can't say at this time). Canton and J'town are 2 of the teams in the talks. It will have the old AIFL rules. And it will be more regional, not national. I also know some of the names being thrown around as Commish and returning owners. It looks and sounds good from what I've been told. The league dues are way cheaper (2/3 cheaper). The only thing I dont agree with is the salary cap. It needs to be raised a little bit to bring in better talent. I don't blame Gene for going all in, he doesn't get any recognition for all that he has done. The man promoted the league/team on facebook, myspace, fanclub page, meassageboards, etc. He should have been fan of the year in my book.

The man promoted the league/team on facebook, myspace, fanclub page, meassageboards, etc. He should have been fan of the year in my book. We are all fans first and foremost. Being a fan, I'm optimistic that a team will return to Canton. I am not overly thrilled that it may be an Andrew Haines run league ... but I also recall that we won a championship in an Andrew Haines ran league. The Erie Freeze, Reading Express and the Canton Legends all have horror stories from the AIFL days, therefore, Joe, Gene and I all have horror stories. We know what we've been through and we know how we feel about it. Most of you know how we feel about Andrew's league administration skills because it's been well documented on these boards. That being said, I have also been contacted by AH. We have not had our initial discussions but have been exchanging email about the UIFL. I am considering joining this effort. Some questions I need answers to and will ask: 1. If you do have a partner, I hope it's not a silent partner who just bankrolls and ignores things. What is your partner's role in the league? 2. What is the role of the fan in this league? 3. Do you anticipate having league owned teams just to get the league started? Do you and/or your partner intend on owning one or more of these teams? 4. How will team owners have a say in the operation of the league? And a bunch of Canton specific questions. Someone, someday will get it right ... maybe AH, maybe not. But right now he has the best shot to get it right.

If we can get AH to listen to people like you Ron, Joe, Gene and even a dumb old photo guy like me it can oly help a league cause as fans we know what will work on us to get us in the stands and we all have been on the other side to apprciate the problems the owners have running things

The NFL could technically survive if attendance dropped off ... their income comes from TV mostly. We have no TV deals, no merchandise deals, etc. We have advertising and asses in the seats. Plus, if no one goes, no one is going to pay to have their ad seen by players and staff. A league that listens and acts on what the fan feedback is will flourish. Is AH willing to do that to succeed? Time will tell.

Fan involvement will be key, and he knows this. I've heard alot about this new league and there should be more info real soon.
