The old arena where the Pittsburgh RiverRats played.
Pa. ice rink roof collapses; people on stretchers (AP) – 1 hour ago
ROSTRAVER, Pa. — The roof of a suburban Pittsburgh ice skating rink has partially collapsed, and emergency crews are on the scene.
Several people have been placed on stretchers, but the extent of their injuries is unknown.
The collapse was reported late Sunday afternoon at the Rostraver Ice Garden in Westmoreland County, about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
The rink's Web site says a public session was scheduled Sunday, but it's unclear whether people were inside at the time of the collapse.
The cause of the collapse hasn't been determined.

There are no injuries. My son is a fireman at the scene and the people that were trapped were trapped in the locker rooms. The Zamboni driver was doing the ice after a game had just finished and heard the wood cracking and got everyone out of the bleachers in time. The two teams that just finished playing and the refs were still in the dressing rooms, debris from the roof blocked the doors until the rescue crews dug them out. The collapse was probably due to snow on the roof but I would have bet money those 3 foot solid oak arches would never fail like that.

The refs locker room had 3 old folding chairs, one was rusted so bad it actually bent in half when a ref sat on it. That place was a death trap.

There were a few Erie Youth Hockey teams in the arena right before it collapsed.
