Final Open Tryout for the 2010 Season
BALTIMORE, MD (October 13, 2009) – One thing that you can always count on in life is a second chance. The Baltimore Mariners are that second chance for all the athletes out there that feel they have something more to offer the great sport of football. There is great talent in the Baltimore Metropolitan area, and we want to see them showcase their talents to our coaching staff and compete for a chance to Set Sail for the Championship in 2010.
The Mariners, who are members of the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) and play their home games at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, will host their final open workout for the 2010 season on Saturday, November 14th at the SoccerDome- Harmans, located at 7447 Shipley Ave, Harmans, MD 21077. Registration begins at 8:00 AM, staff will conduct a series of player evaluations starting at 9:15, and a select group of players will be picked to take part in an elite workout at 11:30. In 2009 the Mariners compiled a 9-5 record and notched the team’s first playoff berth. Despite their success, Justice and the Mariners’ coaching staff are anxious to take the team to the next level and are looking for some players to help take them there. Justice explained, “We have had a tremendous amount of local talent come to us through our last open tryout and look forward to continue the search and hopefully sign more local athletes. At our last tryout we offered training camp contracts to seven local athletes that were somehow under the radar. I am excited to have them compete for a roster spot in 2010 and anticipate even more talent to walk through the door in November.”
Experience or no experience, Justice is looking for a certain type of player, “Besides an athlete that is bigger, stronger, and faster; we need athletes of good character on and off the field. Athletes must accept the Mariner Way and be willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of the entire team and our mission to win an AIFA Championship.”
Professional indoor football is fast paced and hard hitting. If you think you have what it takes to make it in professional indoor football, then come out to SoccerDome on November 14th and let’s see if you can be Fast, Furious, and Fun.
