Has anyone downloaded the new Internet Explorer 7.0 yet. I have and it has some minor improvements such as a drop down "favorites" menu box as well as additional security. I also noticed that my pc runs much smoother. If you havent DL'ed it yet i highly recommend it.....

I can't stand Internet Exploder, haven't used it in awhile. I tried to DL it because it has the tabbed browsing that I'm used to and I was curious, but I can't install it because I don't have an authentic copy of Windows XP installed. hehe

I have 4 computers here and could only download it on my laptop and the main PC i use in my office. The other 2, one has windows 98 and the other has ME and it isnt compatible with those.

People keep talking about the "great improvements" in IE 7.0 compare to other versions but most of those improvements have been standard in other browsers like Firefox (which you can install on any OS, not just XP). I'll stick with Firefox cause you know sooner or later holes will be found in IE 7 (not to mention I use linux so can't install it anyways )

Firefox 1.5. Actually didn't like 2.0, waiting for an extension to be made to get rid of the 'x' on the individual tabs before jumping up to it.

P.S., I also use linux. Debian GNU/Linux 3.0

My friend tried to convert me to IE7 and he said "hey it's got tabs too" but I didn't like it. Plus a lot of things that come standard as part of Firefox2 are only add ons for IE7 (and quite buggy ones at that).

One thing I'm hating about IE 7.0 is that it refreshes the pages going from page to page.
Ever go to a website switch pages, then decide you have to hit the go back a page to see something you missed? Used to show you exactly what you saw, but now it shows you the new, updated page if anything changed while you were away from that page.
If you dont understand, an example would be, going to ebay, seeing an item listed, switching pages, and then deciding that you wanted to see what the price was at, while you were at the page last. Used to work fine, but now when you go back to that page, it shows the current price, no way to pull back the old one anymore.

They probably did this to make sure on dynamic websites that you don't get a error if you hit the back button. Some sites had that issue. I tried IE7 out, but it's nothing I haven't seen before. They really used Firefox as an example. I guess if you can't beat their functinality, just copy them.

The even more annoying thing is the uncontrollable urge of MS (Microsoft) to move and change everything with every update, XP moved the control panel, task bars etc, IE 7 got rid of most of the icons up top. I'll never understand why companies think that changes are always positive, especially moving icons and features that people tend to use.
