COLUMBUS, GA (June 16, 2009) – The Columbus Lions of the American Indoor Football Association with the teamwork of Durty Works, Inc. have teamed up to support the “Honor Flight” program which will send our World War II veterans to Washington D.C. to experience the “Wall of Honor.”
This program by West Georgia Honor Flight will honor our area’s WWII veterans and allow them to reflect at their WWII memorial for a one-day, all expenses paid visit with the first flight scheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd.
In order to do this, Columbus Lions fans can donate $5 to sign up for a chance to be head coach of the Columbus Lions this Friday June 19th as we take on our division rivals and defending AIFA champion Florence Phantoms. Donators also receive one flex ticket for the June 19th game per donation, the more times you donate the greater chance you have at becoming the Lions head coach.
The winner will spend the day with head coach Jason Gibson and the team while the team prepares for their home finale set to take place at 7:30pm. Thirty minutes before kickoff, Coach Gibson will join the “Jungle” fans and, the winner will have the chance to put our club one step closer to clinching the AIFA’s southern division crown.
“Needless to say, these veterans and their sacrifices have built the foundation that all Americans enjoy today,” says Lions owner John Hargrove. “Our head coach of the game will see first hand how our game plan or mission is implemented. In this case, we have taken a lesson from the 3rd Brigade called “Man down” and now we must complete the mission.”
With Father’s Day approaching, this would make a great gift and a family experience. To participate, just go by PMB Broadcasting at 1359 13th Ave or stop by the Lions front office located on the 2nd Floor at the Columbus Civic Center.
Even if you do not think you have what it takes be the head coach of the Lions, please still consider donating or volunteering to this great program of sending our WWII veterans to the WWII Memorial either online, or by phone at 706-320-0027, or by sending a check to:
The West Georgia Honor Flight Fund
c/o The Community Foundation of the Chattahoochee Valley, Inc.

Columbus, GA 31901-2345
