I submitted an article to the opinion section to the Reading Eagle in regards to the lack of Express coverage. It is in todays paper. Here is the letter: I am writing in regard to the lack of coverage by your paper of the Reading Express.
During the past four seasons the Express, in first place in its division with a 9-3 record, have compiled an overall record of 49-14, have three division titles and a conference championship. The team is one of the most successful professional, local sports franchises in the area during that four-year span.
Yet where is the coverage?
On the other hand, the Reading Royals and Reading Phillies, both of which are coming off poor seasons, get all but full-page spreads in your paper daily.
It's ironic that both these teams also happen to be major paid advertisers in your paper. At some point one has to wonder if you only cover the teams that pay to advertise in your paper regularly and just throw a bone now and then to the ones that advertise less.
It's very disappointing to Express fans, some of whom are also subscribers to your paper, that there is very little coverage of their team. It's been four years. Don't you think its time you guys jump aboard the train and give them the coverage that they deserve?

I liked the editor's note where he mentioned that just over a hundred stories were done on the team at two per week. Where have the stories been now that the season is coming to a close and the Express are vying for their 4th division championship.
The only thing that I've seen lately have been game recaps from them being on the road.
Even the Royals and R-Phils get more away coverage then the Express do.

Wonder if the paper ever though of the fact that if they gave better coverage the team would make more money and be able to advertise more.

Counting the paragraph or less notes, not articles, about player signings hardly counts. The Royals and R-Phils actually get big stories about players and sometimes coaches. In no way am i complaining about our other 2 teams either as i support all local teams. But the Eagle, as we all agree, has been giving us the least attention. Come playoff time there will probably be an article in the paper every other day but this past m onth i have virtually seen nothing. In fact there have been more articles about the Royals who arent even playing.
