Storm snap Rochester's 26 game win streak.
Rochester, NY - The first two drives of the Storm’s game against the Rochester Raiders on Thursday, hinted that the game was going to be a lot like last week’s offensive sea-saw match against the Extreme. But the Storm held control to beat the Raiders and snap their 26 game win streak with a 31-18 victory.
The Rochester Raiders (0-1) started off by driving down the field and scoring a touchdown, but the point after attempt was blocked by Sioux Falls (2-0). The Storm marched right down the field and answered with a touchdown pass from Terrance Bryant to James Terry to make the score 7-6. Field goals would be the only offense by both sides by the end of the first half throughout the rest of the first half, as the Storm went to the locker room with a 13 - 9 lead.
TJ Simmons started the second half by returning the kick-off 52 yards for a Sioux Falls touchdown, giving them a 20 - 9 lead. Rochester pulled within two points on the first play of the 4th quarter with a touchdown reception. The two point conversion attempt fell incomplete, keeping the Storm lead at 20-18.
Parker Douglas' third field goal extended the Storm's lead to 23-18 with less than 11 minutes in the fourth. Terrance connected with Brent Little for a touchdown to extend the lead to 29-18. The Storm sacked Rochester for a safety to seal the 31-18 victory.
The Storm improved to 2 – 0 on the season and snapped the Raiders’ 26 game win streak. The Storm open their home season Sunday, March 29th at 3:05 PM against the Omaha Beef.
