Hey Joe, as you know we had two guys get hurt at the last tryout. The one with the shin injury didnt have any insurance. He will join the team in camp once healed but my question is; Would the Ratpack be interested in doing a fundraiser to help this kid out with his medical bills? The Ambulance alone is gonna cost 4-500 bucks. Just a thought. Let me know. I will help anyway I can.

For a moment, I'm going to be that guy.
Why wouldn't the Riverrats insurance cover the injury Don?
Moment over.
We'll have to discuss this over to figure out something.

Right now.....fanclub wise.
This year will be a little different from last year. Last year the 50-50 winner got half, and fanclub got the rest. Which all went to the players. End of season we were -$300. Not to mention our personal start up costs(@$5000 since inception)
This year, not only does the winner get half. But half of the half goes to charity. And the remainder goes to the fanclub. It's going to be real tight this year. We will have to see what kind of money comes in the first game. We may not even be able to do the different charity per game theory either.
The officers and myself will have to discuss that idea and take a vote.

During tryouts the players sign insurance waivers, thats standard. They are covered by their own insurance. If we were to cover all players at tryouts, any scrub on the street could come in, pull a hammy and be on our workmans comp forever. That would be a bad business decision.
However, this poor guy has some talent but doesnt have any insurance. I feel pretty bad for him. Hey it was just a thought. I saw what Gene did for those peeps in Reading so I thought I would mention it.

I did some researching on this incident. I got a call from the Erie RiverRats office. Everything has been and will be covered for that player getting hurt. Hope he is doing better. I saw him get injured and was right there with him throughout his ordeal. I guess my Red Cross first aid and Bloodborne pathogens classes paid off.

I kicked in $225 outta my own savings and Morris, Mink & Bowman kicked in $500. The Express added a few other things too such as season tickets and a game prize package too.
Trust me, aint no moneybags here lol. I am broke. ;D
