In the AIFA? I guess it don't matter. Is Augusta gonna support a third team in as many years? thought the Colts are still staying visible throughout their "hiatus"

From what i've heard Sisson is out for good and the guys i was talking about are going to bring another team here. They won't be named the Colts however.

The only two things ill confirm about sports in Augusta or as follows. 1.) The Basketball team The Augusta Ragging River that is suppose to play in the Civic Center later this year is dead. The league is suppose to be 1/2 owned by the owners and the other half by the league. The Augusta Groove the current basketball team is also on life support because of their own doing. Its a foregone conclusion that basketball is soon going to fade away in the garden city. On a brighter note roller derby is doing well averaging attendance of 1500 a meet and with low overhead appears to be a good investment for Augusta.

There are several "rumors" floating around regarding football. Don't hold your breath on any of them until the ink is dry.

This rumor has been floating around for at least three years now.
I believe Sisson is probably out for good, whether he likes it or not. But it has nothing to do with a new ownership group. I think he got into this business thinking it was going to make money, and was done before he ever started.
Tony, I also told people in Augusta that those basketball teams would never work. Same problem as football. Crappy league with no screening process for new owners.
But Augusta will support a team. They supported the Spartans. Good crowds every time I saw them play. All I have to say about that is: Too bad when a woman that never lifts a finger to make a buck gets everything in a divorce.

I'm more excited about the 'Jackets then my hometown Rome Braves. I always try to catch the GJ's when I'm in Augusta. I like Lake Olmstead Stadium, with the awning and big fans, it's a pleasant place to watch a a ballgame. I just hate leaving my car out in the parking lot....
