MARINERS ADD TWO COACHES TO STAFF
Baltimore, MD…The Baltimore Mariners announce the addition of two coaches to their staff as they continue preparations for the 2009 season.
Jason Blackman returns for his second season as the Defensive Back Coach for the Mariners. Blackman brings seven years of coaching experience to Baltimore. Jason played collegiately at Bowie State where he earned a degree in Business management.
“Coach Blackman brings a deep seeded intensity to the coaching staff, added Mariners Head Coach Chris Simpson. He doesn’t like to lose and his experience with DB’s should translate into a very physical secondary.”
Also joining the Mariners staff will be Quarterback/Receiver Coach Ron Meehan. Meehan played QB at Towson University where he once held up to 13 passing records. Ron continued his play at the professional level where he spent time with the NFL’s Baltimore Colts and Oakland Raiders, the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the USFL’s Washington Federals. Meehan coached three seasons, 2005 – 2008, as the QB Coach and Passing Coordinator at Towson where he had the opportunity mentored current Tigers’ QB Sean Schaefer.
“Coach Meehan brings a wealth of experience on the offensive side of the ball, stated Coach Simpson. His work with the QB’s and WR’s will be a big asset for our Offensive Coordinator Mike Moyseenko.”
“Both of these talented coaches are great additions to an already stellar championship caliber staff and roster in 2009, stated General Manager Greg Justice. They bring a wealth of knowledge and a level of commitment and excellence that will help the Baltimore Mariners ‘Set Sail for the Championship’ in 2009.”
The Mariners will begin their second season in the AFIA in March of 2009. For more information, and other exciting news about the Baltimore Mariners, visit our website at www.baltimoremariners.com.
