BALTIMORE MARINERS HOST FINAL OPEN TRYOUT CAMP
BALTIMORE, MD – The Baltimore Mariners will host their second open tryout on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Freestate Arena in White Marsh, MD. The Mariners will begin their second season in the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) in March of 2009. All home games will be played at the 12,000 seat 1st Mariner Arena in downtown Baltimore.
At their previous tryout, the Mariners signed seven participants to their training camp roster and are looking to add 10 to 15 more athletes to that roster.
“This will be our last open tryout before we open training camp in February and an opportunity for prospects to showcase their talents”, stated Mariners Head Coach Chris Simpson. Because of the great turnout at our first camp and, because of what we expect to see on November 15, future tryouts with the team will be private, invite only evaluations.”
Registration for the November 15 open tryouts begins at 11:00 a.m.
All players will be evaluated in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle and standing broad jump. Selected players who exceed the Mariners testing standards will be invited to participate in an elite workout later in the day, where players will be evaluated in drills specific to the game of Indoor Football.
Pre-Registration is $35.00. Simply use the PayPal system on our web site. Registration the day of the camp is $50 and is payable by cash or money order to the Baltimore Mariners. Participants will register on site the morning of open tryout. However, the Mariners encourage participants to log onto baltimoremariners.com and submit a Player Application form that is listed on the site.
All participants will need to provide their own attire for the non-padded workouts. Participants will be given a number to wear during testing and a Baltimore Mariners camp T-shirt, but must provide their own shoes (grass cleats and turf shoes – no track spikes allowed), shorts or tights and accessories. The Baltimore Mariners are not responsible for travel or lodging expenses.
