Lions Resign WR Gales October 22, 2008 (COLUMBUS, GA)- The Columbus Lions have inked another starter from last years’ 10-4 team. Wide receiver Gerald Gales (5-10, 185) out of West Alabama will return to the Lions after a solid 2008 season. He led the team and ended up 2nd in the league in all-purpose yards per game with 108.5. Gales finished with 70 receptions for 889 yards and 18 TD’s in only 10 games. He missed the final 4 regular season games after injuring his right knee against Mississippi. The Birmingham, AL native returned to the lineup for the teams’ playoff game in Tupelo where he scored 3 TD’s on only 5 catches.
Gales recently underwent surgery to repair ligaments in his injured right knee and is scheduled to be near 100% when the season begins. Head Coach Jason Gibson is excited to get a healthy Gales back in the lineup. “GG is so important to our offense because he can do it all. He can stretch the field, catch screens and make people miss, and move the chains on third down. Having him back healthy will be a huge boost.”

Great news. Gales is very talented, versatile, and a lot of fun to watch.
Any word on Troy at center?

Big pickup for the Lions, I may have to drive down a catch a game or two again this season. I love watching Gales play. The way he attacks the ball in the air is impressive. I have always said if this guy was 6'4 he would be in the NFL.
Good to see a former Rome Renegade still on a roster.

No word on Troy but i hope and expect some of our lineman to return! I think Mike Berry stuck around the area also. I would expect them to announce him soon unless his plans changed
