Morris Back for Third Season with Lions October 10, 2008 (Columbus, GA)- The Columbus Lions have announced the signing of Wide Receiver Tirone Morris. Morris (6-0, 180 Florida A&M) started the 2007 season with the Lions by catching 4 passes and taking two of them in for scores before he broke his leg returning a kickoff. Last season he waited patiently on the practice squad before cracking the starting line-up when Gerald Gales injured his knee. “Tirone stepped in and gave our offense a much needed boost at the time,” said Head Coach Jason Gibson. Morris played the final six games of the Lions season posting 34 catches for 469 yards and he reached the end zone eight times. Gibson added, “Tirone is one of the most physically gifted receivers in the league, and we look for him to have a breakout season this year. His speed combined with his vertical leap and ability to get yards after the catch is what makes him so special.”
