chronicle.augusta.com/stories/082208/spa_470315.shtmlDiggs excluded from 4 finalists By Billy Byler| Staff Writer Friday, August 22, 2008l
Former Augusta Colts head coach Bubba Diggs made a move for victory over majority owner John Sisson and the Colts on Thursday, but Sisson and his team have already moved on to another game.
At a Thursday afternoon news conference in North Augusta, Diggs failed to produce a contract to prove the length of his employment with the team, but he did present unofficial paperwork that pointed to a year-long agreement.
At the same time, the Colts front office was already taking steps to hire a new coach.
"We've interviewed one coach already and we're working on narrowing it down to four finalists. Two are local," Colts vice president of operations Andrew Wright said.
Diggs has been at odds with Sisson and the Colts after Sisson informed the longtime Augusta indoor football coach that he would not receive a paycheck past July because his contract expired at the end of the football season.
The 48-year old coach, who has argued that his contract lasts through the end of the calendar year, admitted Thursday there was no written contract but did produce two letters, both from then-Colts assistant general manager Kelli Pierson.
Diggs said the first letter proves he's entitled to payment through the end of December. The letter is dated Jan. 4, 2008 and signed by Pierson but is not signed by Sisson or any of the Colts ownership.
Sisson did not return a phone call seeking comment, but Wright said the letters meant nothing and questioned their authenticity.
Pierson, who was fired from her assistant general manager position in July in a separate incident, said she was given the authority to offer proof of employment.
Diggs started the news conference by saying his intent was to bring closure to the situation but also said he planned to take legal action as early as today.

I don't know who the candidates are, but I hope they don't mind being lied to and not getting paid.

First of all, I want to thank those of you who went out of your way to find out how I was doing these last few days. Lets just say things are better.
Ive been doing alot of thinking and yes my friend you are correct seems kinda funny about the press conference. The word snow job comes up in my mind you tell Bubba you will take care of him then you don't even provide him with a legal contract. You toss Keli out and claim the contracts are null and void.
( I took the liberty of looking in my business law books a contract is a written or verbal agreement agreed upon by two people regardless of where or how it was wrote up.)
Folks Augusta daily is becoming the biggest joke since The Georgia Golf Hall of Fame. Going to get even worst as days go by. I can't wait till D Day it's coming and when it does all the trash will be sent packing this team organization is a accident waiting to happen.
For the good of indoor football leave Augusta so the right people can take over before you wreck things worse.

As for the coach - more than likely it will be somebody that they don't have to pay nothing too.
somebody that will work only six months of the year and somebody who can't win has no proven record and will find scrubs to play for Augusta.
I see no players with any talent, dignity playing for this organization Augusta will be made up of out of towners, high school grads. and less talent and the front office will not care.
Augusta is a disgrace the only team worse in the history of Augusta was the Heat they lasted three games. Football is gone in Augusta

I disagree Tony. I don't think that the guys that have been playing for Augusta (Spartans/Colts) will just not play football because Bubba isn't around. That's no slight against Bubba, it's just the way it works.
Those guys want to play badly enough to do it for just about anybody, and in some cases without pay. It happens every year in indoor football.

It should be up to the league to remove these disgraceful owners from their ranks. But that would hurt the numbers in the league, and obviously a couple of these leagues aren't interested in that.

I'm going to apply for the job. I know alot of the guys that have played for the Colts/Spartans and I think I could get them to play for me. I'm very adept at being beaten, cheated, kicked around and lied to, so I think I have what it takes to be the head coach of an indoor football team. ......That is of course, if I don't make it onto the Columbus Lions roster as a player.

I looked around the house and found a bag of Chettos, 6 pack of Mtn Dew, and a Gas Card for $100,00 in the desk drawer left over from my road salesman days. Come on to Augusta we would love to have you.
Speaking of being beaten, lied to, used and abused looks like another year of the same ole thing at USC in Columbia.
