Baltimore Mariners Unveil New Logo for 2009 and Beyond

The winds of change are blowing strong throughout the newly formed 2009 Baltimore Mariners organization. With the team securing a solid ownership group under Alan Taylor and his business partner Steve Shockett, it was time for this new group to develop a unique identity for itself. That identity comes in the form of a newly designed Baltimore Mariners team logo. While the former logo, a menacing skull in a colonial style tri-corner hat will still be present in various capacities, it is for the most part being replaced with a new and classier design. The new team branded logo will better distinguish the Baltimore Mariners organization both on and off the field.
The newly designed logo features a ship's wheel (or “helm” in nautical terminology) with an embedded nautical compass, and a distinguishing “B” in the center. When asked about the significance of the changes, the Mariners' newly appointed General Manager Greg Justice explained; “the wheel represents the control and navigation the Mariners' organization will display under its new ownership; while the compass represents the direction that will lead the Baltimore Mariners to a championship run. The “B” simply stands for the very city the Baltimore Mariners will proudly and respectfully represent in the American Indoor Football Association.”
Aside from the logo changes, fans will begin to notice other subtle changes in their 2009 Baltimore Mariners branding. Slight color modifications have also been implemented. A deeper blue will replace the current hue seen on www.baltimoremariners.com and gone will be the yellow representation of gold, being replaced by a true Vegas-gold saturation.
Justice added “when we set sail in 2009 for the AIFA Championship ring, we want to look real sharp while doing it. While we understand the pride the fans had for our previous logo, we truly believe they are going to love and embrace the new design. There is a real excitement about this.”
