I am working on a new concept for membership cards and am looking for a bit of feedback here. These are biiger and would be worn on a lanyard. They are sized 3.5"w X 5"H. Not much bigger than the current Staff Pass i wear at the games now. Here is what the front looks like. I have different pics too but this is the one i'll demonstrate with: The transparent 4 would be the number of years the member has been with the club. Heres the back: The white block below is there to sign my name thus authorizing the card. These cards would be printed on Glossy photo paper and would also be laminated. I am debating as to whether to individualize the cards with the members name on the bottom front or just assign ID #'s? If i go the ID # route i could have the cards premade and give them to the new members right at the table when they sign up. Any thoughts would be appreciated...

While the badge is really nice looking, I'm not sure how practical it is. A card stays in my wallet, and my wallet goes with me everywhere. I could see myself forgetting or misplacing the badge.
As for the preassigned numbers, that would work as long as it wouldn't get too confusing for you.
As far as the names, could you do both? Those who sign up at the games could get a card with a hand printed name on it, and those renewing or signing up in advanced would get one with their names printed. (or even give those signing up at games a temporary simple card good until their regular card is ready)
One more question, would the white space be signed by the cardholder prior to the lamination? If not, I don't think the sig would hold.

The preassigned numbers wouldnt be confusing at all. The member signs up, i pick out a card and write the number down on his application form which i then enter into the database on my pc once i get home (which i do now anyways).
If i leave it blank and fill the members name in at the table then i couldnt give it to them on the spot as i would need to still laminate it. Temporary cards could be used but in the past, if they wanted to buy something right away i would let them use my card then they would return it. I was thinking about making a temp card for this purpose.
Another idea i had for these badges was to have a place for the player (depending on whose pic i have on the card) to sign their autograph. That would kinda make the membership badges collectible. Just an idea though.
I also understand the convenience of having the cards "wallet sized". Most teams have them that size and a few that i have seen have them bigger like this. It might be a personal preference thing? I do like the wallet sized ones too but i am also used to wearing my stuff on a lanyard and havent forgotten it once as i keep it in my car. But, thats just my experience & doesnt speak for the majority.....
