Reading Express wins, moves on to conference championship game
7/4/2008 1:51:00 AM
From our news staff
Rob Flowers threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Foxworth on fourth down with 15.2 seconds left to give the Reading Express a 67-57 win over the Erie RiverRats Thursday night in American Indoor Football Association North Division championship game in the Sovereign Center.
Flowers' seventh touchdown pass of the game gave Reading a 61-57 lead.
Erie moved the ball to the Reading 9 with just over 5 seconds left and had two chances to pull out the win. But after Rob Rutherford misfired on the first try, Trent Jones intercepted in the end zone and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown as time expired.
With the win, Reading (11-4) will host the AIFA Eastern Conference championship game Saturday, July 12, at 7 p.m. in the Sovereign Center. Reading will play the winner of Monday's Huntington at Florence South Division championship game.

This was one of the best games I have ever seen. It should be by far the game of the season.

This was one of the best games I have ever seen. It should be by far the game of the season. I agree. In my 43 years of watching sports this was the best game i have ever seen. Too bad its being mired in controversy. Though i will say "Jerry" and the rest of his gang werent calling a very good game but we did have a blast shouting "Jerry" down in the endzone. Man that was freakin hilarious and to make that even funnier he was egging us on down there. He really got a kick out of it. ;D

For about 3 games I've been sitting next to season ticket holders and had explained "Jerry" the first time it broke out. They thought it was hilarious. Now it we could only get him to stop leaving his mike open when he blows his whistle. B.
