(Columbus, GA) June 11, 2008 – The Columbus Lions of the American Indoor Football team will host their home finale this Sunday, June 15th against the Huntington Heroes as the Lions are one win away from clinching a playoff spot.
“This game is definitely a must-win for our club,” Head Coach Jason Gibson says, “We want to be sure to end the home season with a win for our home crowd.”
The Lions’ offense struggled to produce during last week’s game against the Florence Phantoms. They failed to have any passing touchdowns from their Quarterbacks and only 181 yards of total offense, which is 71 yards off their season average.
Huntington started off the 2008 season with a record of 5-0 and then lost their next 5 games. They are currently on their third head coach of the season with Paul Blankenship. Their first Head Coach Teddy Keaton left after administrative issues and second Head Coach Carlos Clayton was let go after going 0-3.
Since taking over the duties, Blankenship has led the Heroes to a 1-1 record including a defeat from playoff contender the Reading Express.
Fans be sure to come out and celebrate Father’s Day with the Columbus Lions. Fans can purchase a “Family Four Pack” of four drinks, four hot dogs and four tickets for only $48. It will also be “Guns and Hoses” night where all policeman and fireman can purchase group discounted tickets.
Huntington will also mark the last chance fans can watch the Lions on LionsTV. Fans can go to www.columbuslions.net and click on the LionsTV icon to follow the broadband broadcast with play-by-play calls from Chris Blackshear and Mike Vee along with sideline reporter Rachel Baribeau.
