Well, it's official ... the Legends are eliminated from the playoff hunt and are now playing for the first round draft pick (which likely would be Tim McKyer).
Congrats to the Reading Express and Bernie. Still a very classy organization.
Now, notes on the Legends game:
1) The regular PA guy was absent. The fill in guy was gawd awful. The guy was calling kickoffs missed rouges. He said "ROUGE" on the public address system in Canton!
2) The crowd ... wait, crowd is not the right word, the "group" of fans that were there had no energy, no enthusiasm and, apparently, no clue how to make noise at an indoor football game.
It was so depressing that even Slappy gave up.
3) The game was good. Back and forth, back and forth. Both team's defenses appeared to have stayed in the locker room.
4) Dance team looked like a bad episode of "So, you think you can dance?" They can't.
5) Game day ops: What game day operations. That was the worst performance of a game day ops since the Andrew Haines era.
The whole thing was slapped together at the last minute and it showed. No color guard to present the flag(s), the anthem singer was a biker buddy of the owner, teams didn't know where to stand on the field, there was no direction and the direction that was given was wrong.
6) Promotions: This consisted of the "So, you think you can dance" team throwing t-shirts into the crowd. Lame.
7) Officiating: We had Jerry and the crew. That was the best officiated game I have seen in the AIFA maybe ever. Nice job.
8) Final shot: You know how when the game ends you actually have to fight back people to get on the field? Not tonight. In Canton the game ends and people usually are jumping the wall to get on the field. We looked out a couple minutes after the final gun ... no one but players & coaches on the field.
A sad night ... not because we lost, but because apathy has set in.
