An apparent tornado has raked parts of Tupelo and Northeast Missisisppi. Just after eight Thursday morning, the twister set down on the western side of Tupelo near the Chesterville Road area. That's where the most severe damage has taken place. One building of the Mississippi Complex of the Tupelo Furniture Market was ripped open by the storm. The twister then lifted and moved above the city into the Barnes Crossing area. That's where the second wave of damage is evident. The Mississippi Department of Transporation building was hit by the storm which also felled trees along North Gloster Street. The storm then apparently lifted over the Mall at Barnes Crossing and then set down a third time acros Highway 45 at Scruggs Farm Supply. Tractors and semis in the parking lot were overturned, and the building suffered some damage. Other damage is reported in Itawamba County near the Whitehead Road area. WTVA will have continuing coverage of the storm throughout the day and evening. www.wtva.com/cgi/display2.pl?view=news_story-0I was at the High School when the funnel went overhead and you could see it touch down just to the north of the school. The bad thing is-I didn't hear any sirens go off. :smileymudcats: :smileymudcats: :smileymudcats:

any injuries or casualties? Doesn't sound like it (no casualties have been announced). If there were any injuries it would be minor cuts and bruises. :smileymudcats: :smileymudcats: :smileymudcats:

The tornado was upgraded to an EF-3 this morning. Don't know why, but I was watching the weather channel and they said that an EF-3 tornado had hit Tupelo so... :smileymudcats: :smileymudcats: :smileymudcats:
