In the past few seasons, their have been several epic battles between the Canton Legends and the Reading Express. There was the playoff game last year that the Express won to get to AIFA Bowl I and there was the playoff game a year earlier that knocked the Express out of the postseason. When the two teams hit the field Friday night, they will enter the game heading in opposite directions. After a 66-30 win last week over Florence, the Express offense had their best game of the season and their opportunistic defense capitalized once again. The Legends have a 0-5 record and are coming off of a 49-6 blowout loss to Huntington. The Express were buoyed last week by the return of wide receiver Carmelo Ocasio who had 120 yards receiving and three touchdowns. The defense got great pressure up front and forced a safety and two picks. The offensive line only allowed one sack and Rob Flowers threw four touchdown passes and ran for one. Backup quarterback Dan Kelly threw and ran for a score as well. Two of Canton’s five losses have been by three points, one of those was against Carolina, a team that beat the Express by 32. However, Canton did lose to Florence by 16, so on paper the Express seem to have the upper hand. The Express are off next week and then travel to Canton for a game on May 10. The Express return home on May 17 against the Fayetteville. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Procak Associates Field in the Sovereign Center. It will also be Breast Cancer Awareness night.
