LIONS MARCH OVER GUARD, 75-16 Date: 4/19/2008 11:27:09 PM COLUMBUS, GA (April 19, 2008) – In the match up of “Ft. Benning vs. Ft. Bragg I” the Columbus Lions (4-2) of the American Indoor Football Association defeated the Fayetteville Guard (0-4) 75-16. After falling behind early 2-1, the Lions never looked back as Starting Quarterback Joey Conrad dismantled the Guard defense with an aerial assault completing 14 of 17 passes for 274 yards and 6 touchdowns. Each of the Lions three wide receivers each had over 120 yards receiving with Gerald Gales bringing in 4 touchdown catches. The Lions defense marched into action as they held Guard’s Starting Quarterback Jasun Thompson to only 151 yards and 1 touchdown. Linebacker Justin Rivers led Lions brigade as he returned another turnover for a touchdown, his third defensive touchdown this season. 2007 League Defensive MVP Damian Daniels added an interception as the Guard committed 3 turnovers and allowed 4 sacks. Even Kicker Hunter Smith got into the scoring act as he aced 4 Rouge kicks, bringing his total to 6 on the season. Next week, the Lions will be hitting the road to take on the Florida StingRays (0-5) on April 26th.
