LIONS SHARE FIRST WIN WITH COMMUNITY Date: 3/20/2008 11:51:05 AM
Columbus, GA (Mar. 19, 2008) – The Columbus Lions of the American Indoor Football Association spent time celebrating their first win over Augusta by going out in the community and meeting their fans.
On Saturday, Lion’s football players, dance team members, and the mascot were on hand to take pictures, sign autographs and take part in the Spring Eggstravaganza at Doughboy Stadium in Ft. Benning, GA. With a crowd of 2,000, the team met some of their younger fans as they were partaking in the egg hunt and even met up with the Easter Bunny.
That evening, the entire team migrated over to Hollywood Connection as once again players and dance team members signed autographs and took pictures with their fans. Younger fans were given an actual game ball signed by all 30 Lions football players and coaching staff. The evening was capped off with a game of touch football on roller skates between the Lions football players and some of their younger fans. Led by Head Coach Jason Gibson and the mascot, the Lions younger fans won easily in a route over the Lions players.
On Tuesday, the celebration moved to GreenPoint Mortgage, as players were on hand to pass out season tickets. They also raffled names to give a few lucky fans tickets to this Saturday’s home opener against Erie. Fans got to ask their Lions questions about last week’s win over Augusta and what their upcoming plans this Saturday are for Erie.
Tuesday also marked the season opening edition of the Coaches Show hosted by Chris Blackshear of WSHE AM 1270 at the Sports Page with special guest Head Coach Jason Gibson. Players and coaches took the airways to give fans some incite from last weeks win over Augusta and what the game plan looks like for this weekends match-up versus Erie.
