www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3550544Conrad Set to Rejoin Lions 10/19/07 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) Columbus Lions The Columbus Lions announced the signing of last years starting quarterback, Joey Conrad. This will be Conrad's first full season as the starting quarterback for the Lions. Though he only played in 11 games last season, he helped lead the Lions to a WIFL league best record of 10-4 and a trip to the WIFL World Indoor Bowl. While at Glenville State, Conrad set Division II records with 11,884 passing yards and 12,491 yards of total offense. Once a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy in 2005, this three-time first-team West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) pick, racked up records like his 104 career touchdowns. Conrad joined the Lions midway through the 2007 season and finished the season with 30 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. In his 11 games, he finished the season with a completion percentage of 53.3% and a passing efficiency of 98.6 %. This will also mark the third season that Conrad will have played for Head Coach Jason Gibson. Conrad previously played for Coach Gibson with the Chattahoochee Valley Vipers in 2006. Over the past two years, Conrad is 12-3 overall as a starter for Coach Gibson. "Conrad has always been a solid player, whether in college or pros. I am excited to finally allow Joey the chance to be the full-time starter for our organization. With Conrad as our starter, we feel that we can continue our championship ways."

Conrad was also 1-0 with Huntington last year.
He isn't the best quarterback I've seen in indoor football(that would probably be Bo Bartik), but he wins and that's all anyone cares about.

so playing in 11 games out of 14 is joining "midway through the season?" i guess thats the new math their teaching in the south these days
dinkins in 05 was unstoppable but looking back that might have been because of the lack of competition he didnt do as good since then.

The new math that is being taught in the south includes the entire season not just when the games begin. A lot of practice goes on prior to the games.

frostbite be happy that the 'south' exist because this league would not exist without them and their math.... I'm glad conrad is back and lovethatindoorgame is right he was not around for any pre season preperation with us last year so midway sounds about right. Conrad is not the most exciting qb but like 'tnt44' said he wins games and that is all columbus is looking for.

PASSING GP Rating Cmp-Att-Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G --------------------------------------------------------------- CONRAD, Joey 11 98.58 113-212-6 53.3 1478 30 46 134.4 I would like to see Joey's completion pct. hover around 65% or higher this year. He has an excellent Td to INT ratio. He's a bit indecisive at times but when he is clicking he can put on a show like no other. Just to put this into prospective, col's entered the season with Andrew Mckay last year(Who was supposed to be our Qb) and he threw Just as many Int's as Conrad in his stint. He made bad decisions coupled with not being able to make the big play when needed. Conrad in other words lead us to our championship game and nearly brought us victory. So for the third season And his first actual full season with col's, Conrad will lead col's to it's hopeful and eventual championship.

Information from the rumor mill is that Conrad has stayed in Georgia during the off season to prepare for the 08 season. From what I hear the lions will have great receivers, including Conrad's go to receiver while in college, McGee. Anyone have confirmation on this.

Joey was a good QB, honestly I don't know what happened to him and the Heroes. I guess everyone wanted to see Stan Hill play, which ddin't help us at all. At least we endded up a great season with a 35-year-old QB who kicked butt!

I wish i had seen this before I went to columbus today. I could have asked coach Gibson personally. Atleast I was able to pull off buying Conrad's '07 jersey(merry christmas to me). The team started selling the jersey's from last year so i jumped at the chance to get one. Unfortunatly I didn't get much info from the man. He seems bent on not releasing any player info til the website is up(which he still can't tell me when it's gettin up).I did learn that we maybe signed a 6 foot 3, 270 pound linebacker at the try-out this past weekend that ran a 4.7 in the 40 yard dash. sounds like a monster, well see! :smileylions:

Anyone have confirmation on this. ok word is they are "waiting on his contract", Whatever that means? my beliefs are that you're right Tavon has joined back up with Conrad in columbus! :smileylions: He looks good as far as i can tell. I have only stats to go by though. Glennville state 2004 -57 catches, 776 yards, 5td's 2005 -63 catches, 831 yards, 5td's couldn't find anything for 2006! was he the qb after Joey left Glenville state? He stands tall at 6-3, but seems a lil' thin at 195 lbs. Maybe he's beefed up some since then, like i said i found nothing after '05 for him. Merritt and Mcgee should put on quite a show if they can stay healthy and if Joey can find good rhythm early in the year.Good news Thanks for the tip!

I tried to find info on McGee through Glenvilles website. I then went to the WVIAC site and did find the 06 stats. It looked as if he did not have much opportunity to receive, seems they rushed more, he did play some qb.
