North Alabama WR Anthony Merritt 6'0 - 189
DII All-American scored eight touchdowns receiving, rushing and passing as a senior, and returned three kicks for touchdowns as a junior.

POSITIVES: Quick-footed, reliable pass catcher who impacts the game as a return specialist. Fast off the snap, runs sharp routes and gets separation from opponents. Displays a sense of timing, adjusts to the errant throw and looks the pass into his hands.
ANALYSIS: A solid football player, Merritt has definite possibilities as a fifth receiver in a West Coast offense. Return skills bring added value

Columbus, GA (Dec. 8, 2007) – The Columbus Lions are proud to announce that Wide Receiver Anthony Merritt (5’11”, 195) has signed a contract to play for the Colorado Crush of the AFL. Merritt was set to join the Lions after going undrafted in 2007. Merritt initially signed a free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints, soon after Merritt would be given his release due to injury. Merritt was a First Team All-American his senior year at Northern Alabama when the team went 11-1. In four years at UNA, Merritt set 19 individual school records, seven Gulf South Conference records and four NCAA Division II records. Most notably, in 2005 this All-American finished sixth in the voting for the Harlon Hill Trophy as the NCAA Division II College Football player of the year. “Anthony is the total playmaking package, and we are extremely happy to see one of our players take the next step up” Head Coach Jason Gibson said. “Everywhere Merritt has played his teams have played at a Championship level, we look forward to continuing to watch his progress with the Crush.”
Before we could see him back in town Merritt signed with the col. Crush!
Goodluck Merritt!
