API Selected as Strength and Conditioning Coaches
Athletic Performance Inc. (API) of Millersville, Maryland has been selected as the Official Strength and Conditioning Coaches of the Baltimore Blackbirds. The Blackbirds, who will be kicking off their American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) season on March 10th at the Reading Express, selected API due to their excellent reputation and quality facilities. With the start of training camp on February 12th, the API staff will provide the Blackbirds with a season long strength and conditioning regimen to provide them with a winning edge.
API, which is located at 1029 Benfield Boulevard in Millersville, Maryland, utilizes a "Train to Win" philosophy which not only utilizes the latest research and training principles, but its trained staff also dedicates itself to motivating athletes to not only excel as athletes, but to realize their potential and develop the skills they'll need to succeed in life; skills such as discipline, confidence, preparation, self-motivation and teamwork.
The API training programs focus on the long-term development of each athlete through the emphasis of stability training before strength and power training. Athletes must demonstrate the ability to execute movements that require body weight control, balance and core stability before strength and power weight training exercises are introduced.
Traditional training models used for athletes require maximum or near maximum strength and power movements in the early stages of training putting athletes at risk for injury, the development of permanent muscular imbalances and decreased sport performance. These training methods contradict much of the latest research and guidelines associated with the development of athletic skills.
API provides performance enhancement programs to athletes of all sports, skill levels and age groups. API's integrated training model focuses on the long term development of each athlete emphasizing:
speed development, agility, injury prevention, flexibility, first step and acceleration, balance, core strength, power, strength, and endurance. For more information on API, please visit their web site at www.athleticperformanceinc.com.
