Carolina Speed to hold second tryout - 16 Players Signed
October 30, 2006 - As football fever sweeps the nation, the Carolina Speed is set to refuel November 11, 2006 at Cabarrus Arena & Events Center. The Speed will hold its second open tryout.
The Speed, an expansion team in the American Indoor Football Association for the 2006 season looks to compete immediately. “We believe that the Charlotte/Concord area is rich in athletic talent,” says owner/GM, John Morris. “We signed some quality football players last camp, we need some more from this area,” says the Owner/GM, John Morris.
The Speed tryout combine will consist of a 40 yard dash, L. Drill, 20 yard shuttle, skill testing, and individual position drills. Players are encouraged to bring their resume, game film, and proper athletic attire (outdoor cleats/tennis shoes a must/no rainouts). Registration starts Saturday, November 11th at 2pm. Their will be a $60 tryout fee (Cash or money order only).
“If you are a player looking to make it to the next level, this is where you want to be,” says Mink. Last week, the Speed signed 11 players from this region, 4 from Florida and 1 from Alabama. The AIFA’s goal is to send as many players as possible to the NFL, AFL, CFL, and NFL Europe. “We don’t restrict our players from moving up the next level, we encourage it. This is your chance to play pro-football and make something of yourself.” says Mink.
The Carolina Speed are coming to the greater Charlotte-Concord area and begin play in February 2007. Carolina Speed is looking forward to entertaining the local community and supporting local businesses. This is the second step in their goals towards winning the championship.
