Interesting that Tommy will not be at the all star game (I wonder who he has signed with?). Even more interesting that Ty Forte will go to the game in Tommy's place since he has played maybe 2 series all season. I like Ty a lot, but he was 3rd behind Bart Gloyd until Bart signed with the Odessa Roughnecks of the IFL to be their starter. The starting QB for the South will be (deservidly so) Ben Dougherty of talahassee. The honorable mention QB was Pogi of Lakeland and he will play in the championship game. it seems the league would call on another starting QB from the south to fill in. Maybe Leak from Carolina. Oh well, no big deal. I have set the tivo to record!
IT HAS BEEN A GREAT SEASON
The MudCats went to Lakeland Florida looking to keep their drive towards the championship alive. The Cats fought hard but fell to the Thunderbolts 84 – 62 in the Mudcats final game of the year. The Mudcats year has been great ending up with a 12 – 4 record and setting history in North Mississippi with a home play-off appearance and victory.
With the loss Coach Brents is to coach the All-Star team in Florence, SC on Friday night. The game will be aired on WKDH ABC TV on Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. The Mudcats have five All-Stars even with Tommy Jones not playing. William Stewart, Derrik White, Josh Smith and Larry Wright were voted to the team by the other coaches in the South Division. Ty Forte the back-up to Tommy Jones is making the trip to play in Tommy’s place. Coach Brents said, ”It is an honor to coach these boys in the All-Star game and I am looking forward to getting started on next season”.
The Mudcats coach will take the next month off before starting his drive towards next years championship. The Mudcats will start holding try-outs for next years team in September, times and dates are to be announced.
The great MudKitten search will start shortly in North Mississippi. Look here for more details. Season tickets for the 2008 Mudcats are on sale now, call 662-842-1791 for more information.
THANK YOU for a great year, we at the Mississippi look forward to seeing you there next season.
