MUDCATS GO TO 4 and 0!!! Neither thunderstorms nor Tornados could stop the MudCats from going 4 – 0. Tommy Jones lit up the sky with Seven Touchdowns with five going to Darryl Carter. The Raiders put up a valiant fight but fell to the Mighty MudCats 74 – 45. The MudCats have the week off and will be back in action March 10th at Tallahassee. You can listen to the game on www.tupeloradio.com. The MudCats will return home to Mississippi on March 17th to play the Florence Phantoms, come out with your green on to support your Mississippi Mudcats

But honestly did anyone think this wouldn't have happened? Gulf Coast is weak, but not as weak as the ghostriders. Basically, this game was a propaganda tool to create more fan interest in Tupelo. Word of the day, Propaganda. Propaganda \Prop`a*gan"da\, n. [Abbrev. fr. L. de propaganda Propaganda is a specific type of message presentation aimed at serving an agenda. At its root, the denotation of propaganda is 'to propagate (actively spread) a philosophy or point of view'. The most common use of the term (historically) is in political contexts; in particular to refer to certain efforts sponsored by governments or political groups.

Well, Gulf Coast did score 4x as many points as Pittsburgh did against Canton on Friday, so I don't think GC is actually that terrible. I will agree though, that game recap is way too hyped considering it was a travel team.

I was there and I hate to say this but they should not be on the same field. Tupelo pulled back the reins big time the second half. The announcer kept screaming pull a 100 on them but I thought they did the right thing by not doing it.

I agree with you Keith, no need to keep pouring it on when you've got a huge lead. Let the backups get some practice and keep the starters healthy.

Good to see you on here Keith. I agreee the hype is there, but that is on the team website which is as much about sales as information. They may hype it a little, but I understand in they want people excited about being at the Florence game on 3/17. This Tupelo team is doing something others before have not, putting people in the stands. With the weather we had here Saturday night, I am shocked with the attendance of 3,900. Go Cats!

Go Cats! 3900 is a good crowd. If you can do that every game your team will be in good financial shape. I'd say the average crowd is 2,000-2,500 around the league, give or take a couple of hunded. Good luck the rest of the way and i hope the attendance stays high for ya's.........
How many were at tonites game?

3,900 was the low attendance mark, and it was due to severe thunderstorms and tornado watches and warnings in the area throughout the afternoon through game time. We have averaged about 5,000 per game in the first 3. I am amazed at the numbers, but very glad.
Go Cats!

The Mudcats have had an amazing first four games that is for sure. I hope they continue the dominance. I have gone to most of them and plan to go to the rest of them. I love indoor football. The attendance has been high, fans screaming, and plays being made. I am looking forward to going to Florence to watch the Mudcats in the chamionship game. 5,000 plus per game! :smileymudcats: :smileymudcats: :smileymudcats:

OK. So the Cats are 4-0 and have been somewhat impressive, but don't be so quick to claim the trophy.
You beat Gulf Coast, Pittsburgh, Montgomery & Lakeland. Those four teams have 1 win combined. Pittsburgh and Montgomery were lucky to get into double figures their last two games.
So, check yourselves. I know you're excited. I know it's fun. You haven't beaten a good team yet and there is a lot of football left.

O.K. So maybe we are getting a little excited, but it comes from living in the indoor sports wasteland that has been Tupelo for years. I patiently endured the Hound Dogs (Soccer), T-Rex (hockey), and Fireants (NIFL and UIFL). All folded due to lack of fan support, which came about from not winning and terrible marketing.
We now have an owner who got the marketing right. Selected a good coach, who in turn knew what kind of team he wanted to build. He is using the local players very well and found the other talent needed. Granted Gulf Coast, Montgomery, and Pittsburgh... not great teams. Lakeland is a good team (Ask Florence), and with the talent I have seen so far, I believe the Mudcats can play with anybody in the league.
Like every other fan here, I want my team to win the title. I want to end this season in Florence (really should be at one of the championship teams arena) with the Mudcats standing in the middle of the field as the best of 2007. It is a long road to get there, and they may, or may not make it. But we sure are enjoying the first 4 steps.
Go Cats! :smileymudcats:
