B.J. Luke
Head Coach
B.J. Luke Class of 1972, lead the 2006 Vikings with 28 years of successful coaching experience and will now be coaching the Danville Demolition in their inaugural season. Prior to the Demolition, Luke came to Danville High School to Coach the Vikings in 2005. He served as head football coach at Waubonsie Vally High School at Aurora for 16 years, compiling a 115-72 won-loss record.
Luke's first head coaching position was at Heyworth High School from 1977-1981 where he inherited a winless squad that qualified for the state playoffs before he moved on to Yorkville High School in 1981. During his four year tenure at Yorkville, Luke led the team to the state semi-finals in his first year. Luke also served as head coach for the Kankakee Kays from 1985-1987 before assuming the reins at Waubonsie in 1988.
During his 28-year coaching career, Luke has complied these Statistics:
-12 appearances in the IHSA state playoffs, reaching the semi-final level twice and state quarterfinal level once -Coached eight All-State football players -40 of his players were awarded NCAA scholarships
Luke is also an acclaimed alumni athlete from Danville and during his Danville High School playing career he accomplished:
-All state football player, 1971 ( both defense and offense) -All Big 12 football player 1970 and 1971-Big 12 Championship, 440 yard dash in 1972 -Member of the 1970 and 1971 Big12 Championship football and basketball teams
